A few thoughts here- this linear vs exponential thing is one major reason why buchla separated CV and audio VCA’s, the original 292 was exponential in response compared to the 257’s linear response. Furthermore you can just patch from the 281 output back into its own inputs to get the same effect (also works on the easel pulser and any DUSG related circuit.) and with the 281 if you sacrifice one channel you can use the OR out as an attenuator for the second channel- you can achieve these curves within the 281!

Great stuff! I love the thinking about how to manipulate shapes of envelopes! Thanks!

Thanks for making this video. I have been a little frustrated that the TT buchla system didn't have a exponential envelopes. Linear decay leaves out some interesting plucky sounds. This curving of the 281 decay can even serve the function of an ADSR (not perfectly) but musically enough to work in a lot of situations. This video helps me understand Donald's incredible brilliance even more and get fun out of my TT/Buchla setup.

Thanks for the kind words. Check this video I did some time ago about the Or outputs of the 281t, there's a good way to patch an ADSR using it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWXVmn2jh9x2nrc
