I was a crew chief on A-10s from '86-'92 out of Myrtle Beach AFB. I used to do my engine run qualifications in a real A-10 simulator. It was a multi-million dollar simulator controlled by a mainframe and it had NO outside visuals. Your work on this is amazing! I bet our pilots would have loved to have something like this to train in before going up on their first flight. Being a 1 seater they were solo on their first flight.

That classic “I’ll put the brakes on, and he’ll fly right by me” manoeuvre, was an actual thing!

we made the world's first (we think) curved screen in 1987 (on a jet sim) and used crt based projectors - and had to map all edges by analog adjustments of dozens of potentiometers on the circuit boards - took 12 hours, and then when our engineer closed the covers - it all went askew - so we had to remove the case - fortunately they were hanging from mounts so no safety issues - we eventually coded the mapping into our runtime software - but WOW - nothing as kewl as THIS setup - makes me want to build another sim !

No. 1- there is a difference in the movement of the camera inside the virtual space according to the movements of the accelerometer built into the VR helmet and the actual movement of the head 2 - Depending on the viewing angle and involving peripheral vision, the real resolution in this installation is much higher, because here the resolution of the projectors is tripled (potentially 4K x3), and in the helmet the resolution is divided by 2 (i.e. maximum 4K /2). 3 - Here the tension of the eye muscles and lens is much lower due to the distance to the plane on which you need to focus your eyes. 4- real control panels 5- And if you compare the cost of three projectors and one suitable helmet? ...
