Oromo sounds like Amharic. Somali and Afar are closer to each other.

I think pronounciation also makes a big difference. Phonetically modern day orominya appears to have been influenced by amharic. It has lost the phonemes that somali and afar share with arabic and has adopted some of the phonemes unique to the semetic languages of ethiopia. E.g., im pretty sure i heard the cha- sound the ts sound that are pretty common to amharic.

@@mahadali2739 From Cushitic languages only Afar & Somali speakers pronounce this sounds because of Arabic influence ‎፦ ሓ X ح ‎ዓ C ع ‎ቃ Q ق Oromo is influenced by Amharic in West & Harari in the east so they adopted ቸ ፥ ጨ ፥ ጸ ፥ ኽ
