In this video, I show you the final product in my Enzo Trapper 115mm 12c27 build. Due to switching cameras again, there is no assembly footage, but the benefit is that it's a much shorter video! Since this video is much shorter, I decided to give 4K a try :)
I also compare the handles with a Brisa factory completed knife and the other Enzos I've assembled over the past few months. Enjoy.

Stabilized wood block from eBay user www.ebay.com/us.... [One point of note: most people coat the block with water prior to taking listing photos to illustrate the potential colors and grain. In this particular listing, I found the colors to be noticeably more vivid in the listing than in actuality - even when simply coated with water. I was a bit disappointed by this at first as I bid accordingly. However, the quality of the block was good.]

Really nice work and some helpful information too (about the sheaths etc). I’m about to do an Elmax 115. Thanks for sharing your work and experience. Gorgeous handles, I bet they look even better in real life!

Here I am dreaming about getting me an Enzo Trapper and you got a handful LOL...I've never went above the $100 mark yet for a knife.....yes I'm poor😁 I really want one of these Enzos and they actually have great prices on these knives, I can see myself buying one unlike an LT Wright they are within range.

I was in the same boat for a long while. I didn't want to spend that much, let alone have the money. However, I started saving and then started selling some things to get the funds needed. Then it became a hobby and it was easier. Ha. That's how things always go. I love LT knives and used to have a few back when he was with Blind Horse. I've thought about getting a GNS myself among a few others. In all fairness the LT handles are superior as they are not as thin as the Enzos and the his sheathes are my absolute favorite, as demonstrated in these knife-making videos. He also offers A2 steal and his O1 is very, very good. You will not go wrong with an LT. However, for a hobbyist, you can't really do your own LT handles. Enzo is great because they offer blanks in virtually every model. I've since reached out to them begging them to implement their superb convex (only found on the Badger) on the Trapper and Camper and am in hopes they will eventually also move to A2. They've added several new steels to the list. So, if you are wanting a completed knife, LT is amazing stuff and far more affordable than BRKT, but with fewer blade and handle choices. I also prefer LTs sheaths. Enzo is great for the hobbyist and offer great blades as well should the thinner handle design appeal to you. Cheers

Gorgeous work... those handles - Wow! Am about to get an Elmax for bushcraft and am curious if you have a preference between the 115 or 95 in scandi? I'll have to get a blank blade now, and find some tasty material for my scales, or feel forever inadequate. Thanks a bunch!

Hey, spunj mc. Since my boss resigned and I've basically had double work load, I've not been in the woods in a grip. I can tell you that the thicker offerings - Trapper and Nordic - are dense and very sharp and on par with the O1. However, I've still not had a chance to do any serious testing of any of these yet. I recently built a Nordic with 12c27 blade and I got a Nordic skinner in the same steel, but it's very thin and has a slightly hollow feeling. Honestly, I think the 12c27 should be very good in the field and on par with the O1 or perhaps slightly better. If you con't make a decision in the mean time, please consider subscribing to my channel and checking back for when I do get a chance to run a comparison. Cheers

did you modify the pommel of 115 trapper?. it seems different from trapper 95
@OneDegreeLife
@OneDegreeLife 7 жыл бұрын
Nope. The bevel geometry seems to vary based on steel and length. My O1 in 95 is much higher, and therefore thinner at the edge, than the 115 12c27. The same seems to be true for D2 and Elmax as well. Depending on what their heat treat does they may adjust edge profile to provide the best results. I usually don't adjust any scandi grinds, though the micro bevel usually gets eliminated with resharpening/stroping

I need to know if the 115 has a longer handle than the 95 ?? Also how does handle size compare to the Enzo Camper ? Thanks

Sorry, my alerts are only coming through on my subscriptions and not on my channel questions. Weird. The 115 and 95 Trapper have the same handle profile and length, yes. I've received stock scales in the Trapper ONLY on the 95, as my 115 build was custom. However, the TEMPLATE I based my initial cut on is from the same as the 95. Also note, in this video I rounded out the back point on the palm side to make it more nimble and less sharp in the hand. If you look at photos of a 115 blade blank or factory-completed knife the two look identical with the base of the pommel rounding to a point. It's just a personal choice I made on mine to see how it would handle rounded out. I also chose to make my handle here slightly thicker and slightly contoured compared to the factory offerings which are thinish and flat, but with a slight taper to the blade. So, factory, yes, they are the same as are the sheaths with with exception that the 115 channel is obviously longer. The Camper handle has the same Enzo-esque thinness as the Trappers, but it has a more pronounced stop at the base of the pommel. So instead of sloping from the farthest point up near the lanyard hole back TOWARDS the palm, it almost drops straight down. This isn't as nice LOOKING IMO, but it does provide a bit of s top or hook that provides extra grip if choking way back on the knife, for example. I do find it less comfortable in reverse holds than the Trapper, but the rounded version I did here is my favorite. I don't have the Camper any longer to compare now, but my recollection is that all of the handles are fairly similar in length, but because the Camper (and Badger) have the straight drop back, the handle feels a bit longer on the finger side since the back doesn't slope forward using up real estate. In other words, there's more finger room at the back of the handle on the Camper and Badger. I do prefer the Trapper's design and comfort, though. If you like the 115, but prefer the Camper handle, the Badger is a great option. It's a superbly convexed blade and I believe Enzo is doing themselves a disservice not implementing that in their O1, 12c27 and Elmax options. It was only ever available in the Badger and in D2. I have two Badgers, on completed and the other waiting scales. I plan on rounding the back of it out more like a Trapper. The blade is my favorite, but I don't like D2 as much as some of the other steels. Too bad there are not more Badger steel choices. I think they'd fly off the shelves, at least in the US. Hope this length answer helps shine some light on your questions and maybe a few you didn't ask. Good luck in your search. Cheers!

As I understand it, the Trapper 95 has a 95 mm blade. The Trapper 115 has a 115 mm blade. I think the Trapper 115 is similar in blade size to the Camper but they have different geometries in the blade & handle.
