Oh man! You did an extraordinary design job! They all look amazing!!! The only thing I would change is I would use the "Attack on Titan" name in english for the spines instead of the japanese name, that way I could identify it easier in my book shelf in english haha. Yet again stellar design work on the covers, I think it's far from amateurish. I work in the Adobe CC on a daily basis and couldn't do any better. The binding method appears to be some sort of side sewn method... I'm not up to speed on modern sewn bindery methods but it should hold up well enough. Does the spine of the text block seem pinched between sections and only opens fully in the parts where the actual thread is visible? My Color Classic Series etc. is getting bound into 2 volumes using a method called sewn board binding, its a style of binding that I doubt you can get from a commercial bindery... I'm also curious about the specs on the case wrapper. Does the bindery provide any information on that such as the type of printing, type of paper, paper weight, or any type of overlaminate they may use?

Thank you very much, very appreciated! It does open full as can be on the spine sections and less so on the non visible sections. It doesn’t seem pinched but it could be subtle and unnoticeable to the untrained eye. They only specified a glossy wrap cover; the paper they used I didn’t ask for specifics on; only now I’m talking about it do I realise that’s a perfectly valid question and something I’ll ask about in future. Would love to see your binds at done point.

Beautiful work! Hopefully someone from Kodansha is watching and taking notes for future editions of AoT. This is the treatment the Colossal Editions should have been given from the start. Any chance you would be willing to share a ballpark figure of what something like this would cost? No worries if not.

Very kind, thank you…I do hope they take at least a few years with any HCs though as. Don’t want to regret not waiting any time soon! 😂 Without postage costs it was £40 per book. It was just the binding and cover print/attachment really as I did the design work myself. Keep in mind that is for the full graphic wrap cover there are a few different types of cover do the costs will vary.

Great covers! A very enjoyable watch, especially your worried reactions 😂 Interesting about this criss-cross sewn binding. Couldn't see very clearly on the video; would have been good to get a close-up screenshot. Custom binding probably not something I'd consider myself at the moment given the costs involved (but also nothing comes to mind that I'd want to bind at the moment), but always interesting watching these videos.

Go for it! I made the cover designs then sent them to a bindery who did the work on the books before printing and attaching the covers.

I flattered that you think they are good enough to be put out there for others! I would never put the out there for others though as it means a lot to me that they are uniquely mine and one-offs.

Thank you!..and I think that will have to be a video for a later date as others will no doubt be interested too. So keep an eye out. In the mean time check the other two sago vid in the description as it does go into the same process I used with these books. The fonts were ‘pirata one’ and ‘st Tokyo hieroglyph’.

Hi! beautiful first of all! Do you know how can i get them, please? Do i have to buy the colossal edition first, then send them to a bindery making the cover first (or choosing one) or i only have to tell them to buy these volumes and make them hardcover and i only have to choose the cover? Thank you. Oh and for the design can i ask the bindery or do i have to ask a designer or someone?

Thank you! Always check with the bindery you are going to use before you do anything really as everyone will do it differently. I would buy the books first and either design the cover yourself or get someone to do it for you. Then when the design work is done send the books to the bindery. They will appraise the job and give you a quote and if all that is good they will start binding the books and then when that is done sale you for the cover as that normally is one of the last things needed. All of that depends on the bindery and their processes though so ask them anything you need to know and go from there.

'Cause i'm only 17 and i don't have that much of money😅. What do you think? Is the original binding that bad? @@Revelth I would definitely read through the series first and see if you like it enough to dedicate the time to making a hardcover or dust jacket. Dust jackets are fairly cheap if you design work, just google custom dust jacket and you m sure a few option will come up. And it is pricy to bind these so just one is expensive 7 is really expensive. Good luck with whatever you decide!
