Another awesome vid Dom. Short, too the point, good example, easy to understand. And clear well formatted code.

Can I add event listener to more than just one element? What about dispatchEvent function attached to headerTag as the target? Should I make it like this?? headerTag.dispatchEvent(event); elementA.dispatchEvent(event); elementB.dispatchEvent(event); elementC.dispatchEvent(event); Sorry, I still don't get it how it works. How to fire a CustomEvent in one place (like that changeNumber function) but for many 'listeners' across whole document?

Interesting. I am still trying to learn and understand -- JS -- so not sure I am going to be able to use yet what I do not understand. I am working on a WIX platform web site build and I need a specific function to take place and WIX allows JS code to be entered - I really need to figure JS out as no one will help me. I'll keep watching these videos a dozen times over till it starts to sink in

I dont see the usefulness on this. You are already calling a function, why dont you just do the login in changeNumber?
@angelcaru4 жыл бұрын
If you have a lot of code that needs to be run on a function call, with custom events you can separate it into separate files and in the function just dispatch an event
@Falkano4 жыл бұрын
Angel Carvajal could you give a specific usecase as an example? Because i dont get it either 🤔
@seankaat66734 жыл бұрын
@@Falkano Suppose you have network code. Also suppose you have a function that receives a confirmation from the server. Then that called function could dispatch an event on all area(s) of the screen awaiting the network confirmation.
@learningacademixca81433 жыл бұрын
You probably figured this out already, but others may be interested to know: it's supposed to be a call to document.dispatchEvent(event); instead of headerTag.dispatchEvent(event). The document then calls the event on all the subscribers.

Looks like absolutely useless thing with a lot of code which can be substituted with only few lines of good old imperative instructions.
