Custom Homemade (Redneck) Bimini Boat Shade

After getting sun sick at Grand Lake, OK I decided to make a custom Bimini shade for the boat that may or may not be a little redneck. This is not a step by step how to, but it may give you some great ideas.

@@genecurl6284 I'm thinking about using camo netting to avoid the cover becoming a sail and pushing the boat around. I have family on Grand Lake/ Grove. See ya on the lake!

@@garybiggs9010If the tarp is horizontal, you won’t be catching any wind. Adding a bow that tensions the tarp will make it flap less and stay quieter in the wind.

@@seanmccambridge If you look again, he had the tarp come down vertical on one side. If the inside corner catches a good wind, the boat will be effected. And the more it tilts the more wind it will catch. Enough wind can tip a small narrow aluminum boat over or rip the grommets out of a cheap tarp. There may also be times when I want a sun blocker hung vertical on one side of the boat such as anchored up with a setting sun.

@@garybiggs9010 Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I would definitely cut it to size and add some reinforced grommets to get some tension on it. You could add a bunch of grommets and lace the whole thing. I’m thinking the PVC poles would break before the boat capsized. But no one buys a jon boat for its seaworthiness lol.
