Very nicely done truck! With that short short cab, you can carry quite a load on this guy, but “not for hire” label on it point to the fact it’s money making hauling days are over. These trucks were very common back in its day, although I think this. Articulation truck has had its frame lengthened. Back in its day, there were total length restrictions and short wheel base cabovers were used to get a maximum length trailer and load.

It's called a Cab-Over & they are Standard in Europe. To access the Engine the Whole cab usually unlocks & Flips forward on hinges..
@erlyhenriquesilva34836 күн бұрын
Many countries have adopted cab-over-engine trucks due to restrictions on the total vehicle length. While in the United States only the trailer's length is considered, in Europe, South America, and many other countries, the length of the entire vehicle, from the front bumper to the rear, is taken into account. For this reason, the cab is placed over the engine rather than in front of it, under a hood. The space saved by placing the engine beneath the cab is compensated by increasing the size of the trailer and its load capacity. Personally, I find American trucks more attractive, and their cabins are larger and more comfortable for drivers.
@WakeUp-p6h6 күн бұрын
@erlyhenriquesilva3483 I disagree about the U.S. being more comfortable. The Euro Cabs are on another level for comfort and tech.. US drivers who've been to Europe and tried 20year old trucks say they're better than Brand new U.S. ones for driver comfort and features. Scandia etc

This is what many, NY self included, spent many, many, and years driving in. Many states had 55 for overall length limits. To pull longer length trailers, your tractor HAD to be this short. Many times it seemed like one had to get out to even change your mind! They didn't ride very good either. If you were in an accident, you were the first one there! My first diesel truck to drive was a 1965 Mack this short. No one had even heard about A/C back in a truck then .
