Definitely prefer hearing the sounds of the repair / restore in progress.

niiiice. i recently finished one just like this myself. i only started with an old ktm frame, got 26" nexus-3speed. perfect cruiser for the city, if a bit slow, but soo comfy thanks to the flex in the frame.

It's all beautiful, but the job you did on that crankset is stunning.

Когда-то у меня был велосипед АИСТ. Синий цвет перламутровый, черные щитки, серебристые обода и желтые покрышки. Очень похожие цвета.

Hello! Beauuutiful bike! Very nice basket with the adaptable rods You serviced all except the bb. I feel you, those cottered cranks are a pain in the ass. I have a question. How is it call that tool you use to make the drilles hole bigger? I want one! Thanks a lot. Eres un majo!
@bottoncino_bicycles5 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! Yes, that Manivelle basket really has a sleek design! Yup, those bbs are not fun to service and can even break when you try. It's the no 1 thing I check when buying these bikes - that they still spin well

I'd actually like a bit of commentary to explain why you do things a certain way or why specific parts where chosen. I for instance sometimes wonder why you don't strip the bike completely before cleaning it, only to remove the remaining parts afterwards. Grüße aus Wien!

Thanks for your feedback! About your question: I do that simply for convenience. Find it easier to get the gunk off these parts while they are being 'held' by the frame. Yes, you do need to clean the mounting areas separately, but overall still a plus in my opinion

The polish job was perfect (you might considere adding rust stop treatment to the places where paint is worn out like Toasty rides does), the new tires are a downgrade to Marathons imo, sad that these old bikes dont have a functional front brake how does the bike ride? In my experience they are way too flexy, flexy on the point of play, were they built like that or is it the aging of the frame? I really dig the bike overall but if its one thing that got better with age its the brakes.
@bottoncino_bicycles5 ай бұрын
True, those front brakes don't have a lot of stopping power, but to be fair, I use the coaster brake about 90% of the time on one of these. Don't share your sentiment on the frame flex. But obviously, this comes down to what you expect from a frame that never had any sporty intentions, I guess 😅 Did apply some rust converter to the worst parts, just not on camera

@@bottoncino_bicycles Ive rode some very old gritty bikes that probably werent serviced well so my impression of too much flex probably comes from that but older wheels were definetly very flexy, very comfortable but you can even noticed how flexy they are when steering

Nothing worse than the canned background music from KZbin. Good decision getting rid of it
@bottoncino_bicycles5 ай бұрын
Yes, the KZbin song library is quite limited...
@jeremynorth5 ай бұрын
Yes much better with no music. A lovely build but no need to cut the mudguard, it looks worse and it doesn't protect the person on the bike who is following. To look good , the mudguard must follow the same arc as the wheel

In restoring bike please try to bring back all the stock parts as possible don't just cut the handle grip original parts are the best
@bottoncino_bicycles5 ай бұрын
Agreed! All original parts usually go in the parts bin when they are still usable. But in this case, they simply weren't
