The pullout from the AO with Nabal swooping in to cover the crippled Trade and the lagging Diplomacy, followed by the tense, grueling and slow advance to burn perimeter, all under the booming sound of Fighting Phase was absolutely amazing. Thank you and team for this. Renard will be remembered!

That final retreat with the nabal providing the rear guard action was peak action, this series is just getting better and better. Huge props to you and the team, can't wait to see what happens next.

I love the Nebulous campaign ;) Idea for the next episode. - Bloodhound seems like a mad dog. - He will capture the escape pods and starts torturing people (I am sorry he sounds like the kind of guy who is really into it) - Another OSP faction/group or individual gives the ANS information where to find the mercenary and information about the forces they have to expect. (because they aren't into the whole torture thing). - So next episode you can go into a battle to free the prisoners while knowing what to expect.

I like that idea a lot. Hell, there could even be some OSP ship that want a piece of the action and agree to a temporary truce with the ANS Rescue party to help put the mad mercenary captain down, that be interesting to see right

Given how long it took for the Sakala to go critical, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable to have the next mission revolve around captured escape pods. Plenty of time for them to have gotten distance to be clear of the blast radius, but almost certainly being captured afterwards.

Yeah, you can see pods leaving the ship as well. There is no way anyone in a space faring culture leaves those pods there, you do search and rescue, save your own people then pick up anyone else.

Instantly get the impression that Mallory is not a good person to be subordinate to Edits and spoilers lie below Well I was about to say something about the Ifrit's heading order, then you fixed it. 21:20 "Oh, we didn't copy that last transmission, anyway here's a suspiciously relevant comment about our lost commander" will definitely pass the vibe check when the communication logs get reviewed 23:00 Being pedantic here, but Vye-count, not Vis-count. Very silly spelling, I blame the French 26:00 Poor forgotten Angled Vapor As far as "now what" I see a few different possibilities. Given the disposition of the escape pods I think it's very likely Renard and the surviving members of his crew got captured. Given the direct hits to the Sakala's CIC, it's likely he's injured and a lot of the bridge crew are dead. That leaves a few options. 1) Renard defects to the OSP, which would change the vibe of this whole thing considerably. Probably not where we're going, but it is a thing that could happen and almost certainly what an OSP interrogator would be trying to arrange - they need competent naval crew. Likely some of the crew would defect. The hope for defection also means the OSP are very likely going to treat Renard and co well. 2) Renard is part of some sort of glorious escape scheme. Probably helps that any ex-Sakala defectors might be in the OSP ships and not willing to shoot down their former commander. 3) Renard is part of a prisoner exchange and returns to ANS service shortly. 4) Phros switches over to playing the Ifrit Nabal's commander running the rescue mission.

Love the other comments and ideas around defection, could lead to an awesome plot twist. If not that, I think it has to be an aggressive deep strike rescue mission. Mallory kicks a flank hard enough to draw the mercs and Ifrit does a suicide-style dive in to get Renald while theyre distracrd. Even better if they disobey orders to so it. Alt, the mercs arrange a prisoner exchange which is a trap, that the ANS anticipates and you get a double escalation. Third, Mallory grabs a nuke, and goes warheads on foreheads after Renald alongside Ifrit. Apex yolo energy, hitting Bloodhound with a couple megatons of FAFO as he “springs his trap”.

Given the devastation of 2 highly regarded fleets I think the ans would respond with crushing force, to rescue survivors from the rebels and maybe naval intelligence is trying to make an example of this mad bloodhound character, an option if you are using vanilla plus would be a battlecruiser leading a fleet, or the command cruiser because it is a massive missile platform

You know what would make for a great story for an interesting campaign. NUKES Have the 1st engagement seem like a counter-piracy operation, only for a nuke to detonate and destroy an allied fleet forcing you to disengage with the objective to survive. Then as the campaign progresses you chose to counter either with your own nukes, or chose other anti-nuclear options.

Firstly, I'd just like to say I enjoyed the video. But personally I'm not a fan of the outnumbered/outgunned mission types. I think such was voted on but it feels very much like you have no chance. But again that is just a personal opinion of mine. As for what next hard to say. I might have more thoughts later in discord.

Edit: I'd like to make it clear that I meant no offence with my comment. I was merely making my own personal observation. I find the voices way too distracting; I don't know if the problem is the voices themselves, but I certainly think that the sound equipment they are using to record the voices is a big contributor to the issue. But if this is meant as a fun, passion project to give up-and-coming voice actors opportunities and experience, I think an option should be added that allows the muting of voices: both in cut-scenes and in-game play. That way, amateur voice actors can make a living, but not at the expense of the player's own experience.

@@Di3Leberwurst I see. Another option would be to adjust the mixing of the sound for the voices, and adjust the story as needed. For example, some voices might sound better over damaged/malfunctioning (done through mixing) communication systems used in the story. I don't think it's a problem to be inclusive especially in a community setting, but -- for example -- if the voices or recording equipment are inflexible, I think mixing and story adjustment are options to make a better final product. But these are my suspicions: nothing more.

@@GDOutOfContextGD Honestly, I don't think the microphones are necessarily all that bad from source audio; I think it's more of a heavyhanded Discord compression and radio effect compounding what we hear

@@tylerphuoc2653 Some of the recorded voices don't sound too bad, so for those the microphone won't be an issue; but, you may very well be right: the microphones used may not be the issue. But I do think their sound team needs someone who can mix audio to make the recorded voice sound like they are in the story atmosphere. Otherwise, it just sounds like a couple of people taking turns saying their voice lines over a voice-chat client (like Discord), and -- to me -- that is very distracting when you are making a serious attempt at telling a story. I would rather read text with no voice-line (even while I'm busy playing the game), rather than listen to voiced lines of dialogue that aren't mixed well into the story atmosphere.

The sound team is... me, and I am deliberatly corrupting the audio a little to try and give it a radio effect. I'll put more work into it however.

4min 30ish sec in and man I don't know what the voice actors were doing but the recordings are WAY too loud and extremely echo like their talking in front of a crowd of a hundred or so quiet people at a comedy or lecture venue. I know it was a thing with one or two in previous missions of this but now it's all of them? These guys would be on the bridge which wouldn't be much bigger than a living room in a house in the US. Not TINY but nowhere near that huge either and over comms their voice would be isolated with maybe a hint of static and some small room calm voice background noise.

Follow up having gotten towards the end of the vid. I had to turn the volume down bellow half and your voice is a bit hard to hear though still understandable while the VA's lines are still a bit loud but not....so loud it hurts. So definitely see about turning the volume down on those if possible.

Please, work on the volume balancing. These VOs are just way too loud compared to everything else. Even if it's "quiet", the commentary is fighting with the music.

@@Phrosphor You thought? You didn't even check before uploading? You have dozens of videos on your channel, but you still haven't figured out a consistent way to record and mix things? You don't need to be a pro in mixing and mastering, but if you can't even figure out basic volume balancing, what am I supposed to tell you? I hate to be that negative, but unless you have severe hearing impairment, you should have figured out a process by now. If you're still getting results that inconsistent, you're doing it wrong and your ears should tell you.

@@Phrosphor I mean how Sulako been shot down, not about the length of episode. In next parts maybe Renard will work for mercs while crew kept hostage? While doing so, gathering intel how to defeat them. Meanwhile fleet can prepare a rescue mission

Im sorry, I APRECIATE just how good modders are and their effort, but indians and south americans doing evil Germans over a discord call is too goofy. Most contacts with the enemy take the form of "surrender." "Ligma." And then they blast their national songs over each others radios. Radio in combat is short and sweet unless panicked. Adresses to the crews allow for ONE rallying one liner. My advice, try to keep the talking to a minimum and profesional unless its bickering between officers on the same ship. Captains are chosen for strength and confidence, and will defend dogwater actions (like shooting early) to the point they will change unit history books to blame someone else. Lastly, so much talking is a huge CFMS (come touch me signal), so most of this should be in the form of a short data fax if anything. I understand the limitations, but I would personally like to see modders use more than teen-romance dialogue for combat mods. Edit: keep making these, its all awesome

@@kaptainbeans my bad, the outro made it sound like it was a community driven campaign in progress. Still, writers should take a page from Highfleet (including your custom series I also love) where one "thermal signature detected" sparks more tension than a thousand pages of evil captain dialogue.
