Custom Painting a LOUIS VUITTON Bag?!

Do you want to see a really cool, unique art customization? This was the most TERRIFYING thing I have ever touched with a paint brush before, but... I customized a luxury Louis Vuitton bag! As intimidating as painting a designer purse may be... I was very happy with the outcome!
If you're curious, I used Angelus Leather Acrylic paint to do this. It's specifically made for leather purses and shoes to prevent cracking. I opted out of using the leather preparer and deglazer after swatching a small spot on the bag, and feeling like it lifted too much of the bag's original beauty. Also, to seal everything in, I used Angelus Acrylic Finisher after the video.

I bought a carry-on suitcase that was the perfect size but was printed with a name across the front and back. So I painted a swirly flower design in pastel colours over both to camouflage the words. I still use it now and always get comments on my unique design.

Angelus paints are amazing. You can use them for leather or canvas. Alot of people use them to customize shoes.

@@MiraByler you should! Look on Instagram for custom shoes, people do some crazy things with them! I used to do it all the time to mine! And those tiny paint containers last a LONG time, I normally use the paint straight from the container. I've probably painted 40+ pairs of shoes and still haven't had to order more of the colors. The key is super light layers. (Watch out though! You'll get obsessed once you start! 😂 I've spent a ton of money on Angelus products. They even have metallics!)

I don't really care for expensive designer bags (I already have the best cat purse/bag ever... It's paws stick to its eyes with magnets and it can detach to show its eyes. It's hiding. 😁). I know you felt the stress of working on an expensive article, I have also painted custom items and I did not enjoy myself. I even did some airbrushing on a car but the most stress I ever felt was a mural on a building in front of an audience, I had two others helping me and directing them to apply colors and fields of paint so I could go in and add details that I wanted was a little crazy making! I think you did a GREAT job and I think he will get a premium for that bag! You might enjoy painting on jean jackets more! color by felix has done some super work in that area and he charges for it too! This can be a money maker if you can churn them out! I once offered T-Shirt commissions from a art stall in a craft fair, with samples only sold for pickup on the last day! The airbrush made a huge difference for me when trying to make many shirts to earn a profit! Have you ever tried to use an airbrush? Loved the video! You did GREAT!

I thought of painting my mom's purse and give it for her birthday. But it's been years since I've lifted a paintbrush and the purse has pen marks and sort of faded. The purse is cream color and I'll add some cream color over the pen mark damaged area (front) and was thinking of doing a design on the back faded area. Will just applying a coat of paint do for the front and back or double coat?

Hmm, I don’t know to be honest! I think it depends on what material it is. This is the only purse I’ve ever painted, so I’m not very experienced. I got advice by joining Facebook groups before I did this one. Maybe if you posted a picture of it in one of those purse groups, someone could tell you the best way to paint yours. I hope that helps! I actually customise all of my bags. But only cos I make them. I can't ever find bags I like, so since I'm a seamstress as Well as an artist, I just make what I like! You did a fantastic job on it. I'll definitely try this on the next leather bag I make. Xx

Cute idea and I like the execution! I haven't customized a purse myself yet but I have sewn one. It was made of faux leather and looked a bit like a bowling bag. After using it 2 years everyday it wasn't that nice looking anymore so I had to replace it but I liked that handbag a lot!
