On the other hand, it lead you to the awesome train spectacular you now have. Btw, I agree with you Jang, it looks so much more 'train like' now going through those curves. If you set your lighting, set the trains running and uploaded a 3 hour video of it simply running I'd have it on all the time to relax. Amazing work as always.

In the UK these style trains are the high speed trains that travel about 100 miles from London to Dover but it's only high speed for half the trip. At both ends of the line the train is a normal train service for beginning and end of the trip stopping at about 7 stations at each end. To make your train more realistic I'd make it go off out of your city and then come back in hidden behind your blue cover around the city.

If there's room, I wonder if the aquarium could be on the other side of the road to the zoo, so it's actually by the sea? Then the monorail could turn towards the sea by the mountain and run between the zoo and aquarium. To me, that would make the monorail extra useful in universe!
@stuchly14 жыл бұрын
Super late reply, but I'm genuinely interested. How do you feel about the way Jang has actually ended up positioning the aquarium in the end?

In Austria, the newer styles of city train and local train ("S-Bahn") have two Aerodynamic ends. Both the diesel and electric powered ones, both the big and small versions. The concept for those is very similar to the concept you have going on. They are usually just short trains with 1 or two cars in between two aerodynamic ends, the smallest version is just those two aerodynamic ends stuck together. If you wanna have a look, search for "OEBB CityJet" or "OEBB S-Bahn". The ones I'm talking about usually have red and grey colours. To make a long-ish story short, your orange train has always made perfect sense to me. In fact, with that many cars it reminds me mostly of an ICE-3 which is a fast intercity train as I'm sure you're aware. This is not a complaint in any way, I like both versions a lot and the longer train does snake beautifully through your city. Out of curiosity, have you considered building your not-end cars in a sort of 2-2 configuration? As in 2 in the Newer style with the black bricks and two in the older style with the orange bricks at the ends.

Jang it would look better if you just made each car have an aerodynamic end on both sides and then one facing upwards as well on every other car. Actually if you just got rid of the cars entirely and just joined two aerodynamic ends directly together I think everyone would agree it looked better. But of course, it would be important that you modify the aerodynamic ends to be flat too. Okay, I'm joking, its obvious you really just need to stack two trains on top of each other, one with aerodynamic ends on both sides and one without.

I really like the look of the new train. Tbh, I've never seen a train with only one aerodynamic end, so I don't know where people got this idea from. Nowadays (at least in Europe) directions of trains are not really a thing anymore, since they change their directions frequently. either during trips or in between them. The only exception I could think of would be trains that have a locomotive on one side and a steering unit on the other. I feel that these are becoming rare, though. Most passenger trains (regional, local and long distance) in Europe (and maybe everywhere) are now fixed assemblies with many or all of their wheels powered and without any real cars or locomotives. You often even see additional aerodynamic ends within a train when two of such assemblies are connected.

Looking good Jang. I forgot to say in the last video I do know what a Zoo Train is. When the Metro Toronto Zoo opened in 1976, it had a Monorail "ride" to take people around the Zoo. I don't expect you to do this, but after seeing the hole in the mountain for your Monorail, I thought maybe a "dark" exhibit could be there, like the insects, and the Monorail not only gives the Mini-figs a view of the Zoo but actually takes them someplace to an exhibit. Waiting for the next update.
