Great look for the Prusacaster. I really like the look that I got on mine, too :D With regards to the string height, you need to set up the guitar: You need to adjust the screws on the back of the bridge to adjust the intonation (same note when fretted and harmonic on the 12th fret), the height of the string (use the small hex key and listen for buzz and then back off). Also, you may have to adjust the truss rod. With all those things, I got a comfortable low-string height on my Prusacaster. :D

Love the body build, especially adding the epoxy, but can anyone point me to a build of one of these with actual quality parts? For example, Warmoth neck, quality electronics (CTS pots, paper in oil capacitor) qualty pickups (Lollar, Fralin, Porter), quality hardware (Gotoh, Grover), etc. All the ones I've heard sound like $129 amazon guitars. When you use cheap kits instead of sourcing all the parts individually, you end up with a cheap sounding guitar.

Prusa talked about that in his own video about making this, and he did take scale length into consideration and specifically chose a Tele bridge for the extra intonation range. It shouldn't be a problem on this one :)

Excellent tutorial! Can't wait to try this when my printer comes. Also, I definitely recommend Warmoth if anyone is looking for decent quality necks for their 3D builds. I've found those generic "parts guitar kits" are made from extremely cheap materials and the build quality of the neck is generally of very low quality. Horrible almost non existent QC. This in itself sort of devalues the level of work and time put into these builds, as every aspect of it is amazing otherwise. The let down I've noticed with many of these builds is the neck. Even worth looking into licensed Fender or Ibanez necks, these can be found on eBay pretty cheap, and you know you're getting a quality neck to make that custom build just that more professional. Just make sure the neck pocket matches the correct neck specs.Just my two cents.
@the3dprintzone27 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I completely agree! Even an entry level guitar neck from a Fender / Ibanez / Gibson guitar is significantly better than most of the cheap necks you find on amazon ect. I now offer complete 3D printed guitar kits on my website which come with all Fender Squier necks and electronics if you are interested to check them out (www.the3dprintzone.com/shop/3d-printed-guitar-kits). Currently just Telecaster-style options, but I plan to add more kit options in the future.

Some of the comments on the original Prusa project suggested there could be improvements by running the strings through the body with a different stringing arrangement, i.e. not having the force pulling the guitar sideways so much. Still an interesting project though.

Thanks for the comment! I used a neck that I had used from a previous build, but the other components came from the Amazon kit in the video description. I'm not sure if the Amazon neck will fit perfectly, so it's possible you may need to use some shims or a dremel to get it to fit properly.

How was the alignment of your pieces to glue up? I just printed this guy, and there is a gap between the pieces if I lay them all flat on a table. It looks like I can mate the pieces up, but it lifts the edges slightly (a few mm). This seems true all the way around the center piece.
