Custom Roadster Shop Chassis: How it works...

Roadster Shop offers the widest range of production chassis in the industry. However, there are plenty of unique cars out there that don’t fall into our standard production range. For those special vehicles and one-off projects, we offer our ‘Custom Chassis Service’.
In this video we go through the process of creating a custom chassis for your build designed to meet your specifications and requirements. By digitally laser scanning your vehicle we are able to engineer a chassis with performance, handling, and reliability built-in.
Our engineers work hand in hand with you to design the chassis for your car or truck. We have years of experience creating the best possible chassis and have built chassis for fellow builders such as Kindig-it Designs, Ring Brothers, Jesse James' Monster Garage, Greening Auto, Chip Foose, KC's Paint Shop, and Banks Power among many others!

Can you guys recreate a complete Mercedes Benz 710 SSK Roadster 1930 Trossi edition with modern upgrade and styling.. I really love this model as it was the first car that makes me go crazyy about car since I was a kid. I really loved to see a modern version or rendering of this vehicle with modern tech installed in it and far more beautiful with RoadsterShop own design.. How do you guys comply with the legal requirements and registration for a custom chassis? Do you have to perform any safety tests to make it road legal

At least in the states where we do most of our business (we do ship internationally as well) - the VIN for a vehicle is attached to the body so whatever donor car we use ends up with the same VIN as the original number. DMV's are only concerned with the VIN and the car with the new chassis will register the same as the stock vehicle. As for safety tests - all the cars we put chassis underneath will accelerate, handle, and brake better than a stock vehicle improving safety in nearly every regard.

@@shreyastiwari8859 Depends on where you live and what entity you are registering with. I know from personal experience that even DMVs in the same state will sometimes behave differently. If it's outside the US I really can't give you any solid advice.

Can you make a chassis for a 3/4 ton pickup? I noticed other shops only do 1/2 tons.

You should check out Banks Power's latest video series. They are doing a c20 build with 8 lug hubs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYaZpKJjbtWJZrM Most the stuff we do is 5 lug, but as proof it can be done - the Banks series is great. Are you going to use your truck as a tow vehicle or not so much - just that it started life as a 3/'4 ton?

There is a lot of time and effort involved in creating the custom chassis - as you've seen. We don't aim to make 'cheap products' because ultimately we want something to go under a car or truck, and stay there performing to it's best, safest ability for the life of the vehicle.
