Thanks, it is an older video, but a good one. I was making videos out of my apartment at that time. Now thanks to viewers I have my dream home on the water. I’m in debt to you all. I’m going to keep making the best videos I can. 😎👊

Like the idea man. Now I have a weekend project that I can do but I plan on adding wheels to pull the crate to the beach. Nice work

Love your videos! Always great ideas at an affordable price. One thing I've been trying to come up with is how to store my rods horizontally instead of straight up or diagonal off the back. I flipped coming back from the surf and my rod tip hit the shallow sand and snapped. Was wondering if you guys had any ideas for that. I have a WS thresher 140. Once again great videos, subbed.

+Ryan Bush join our facebook group (facebook.com/groups/KayakDIY). This would be a great discussion topic. We have over 11,500 members which would love to help likely. We comment on posts within the group often. It depends heavily on how many rods you plan to lay horizontal and the types of rods.

That's pretty cool just wish you can get to those Plano while on the water.
@KayakDIY9 жыл бұрын
+sammy2189 I can reach the plano containers on the water quite easily actually. It would appear difficult but they are actually quite reachable. The bucket doesn't get in the way. Also you could use the shown (alternative) plano bucket lid instead of gamma vittles lid and you can have tackle even closer. Plano Lid: amzn.to/1MK0rTW
@mrkstud9 жыл бұрын
+KayakDIY didn't realize you can actually take the Plano out while the bucket in there.
@KayakDIY9 жыл бұрын
Yes. The tackle boxes fit exactly into the space and are removable without taking out the bucket from crate. I have listed the dimensions of the tackle boxes at widest point on the video. I found them in a hardware store cheap and they work perfect. Their are likely tons of tackle boxes that would fit the space.

Thank you for a great build video. I already have a crate built for when I go freshwater fishing. I'm thinking of building this one for offshore fishing. Can you tell me the part # of the plano boxes that you used in the video. Thank You and keep the video's coming.
@KayakDIY8 жыл бұрын
The "plano like" boxes actually came with this container which can be purchased at Lowes or online. They are just cheap hardware boxes. Can't give you more info really because they were included with the green crate. I think I have links to the green crate in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noCrnWiQnd-ZeKs

This is a completely freekin amazing fishing crate - and awesome too that it's DIY - the cost is super high though. O_o You guys should do up a couple of more budget-friendly builds! :)

+ModemMisuser Home Depot has a sale on milk crates right now. Under $7 each. We may do more videos on more affordable DIY crate builds. This build had more purchased parts but we really liked it and it was alot less money than a Yak Attack Blakpak.
@Crusader46338 жыл бұрын
KayakDIY Yeah - it's still less than the commercially made crates. I guess I was mainly shocked at the price of the "SlideTrax" plates. It's just 2 plates of plastic. I bet someone with decent jigsaw-fu could cut out something similar for under $10 rather than the $50 they want for those. :D
@KayakDIY8 жыл бұрын
You could make some plates if you like. Maybe from Walmart cutting board material. Just a thought.

I just bought a 12 x 24" sheet of 1/4" thick ABS plastic on Amazon for about $15. I was planning to use a portion of it to make a reinforcing bracket for a hatch I'm installing on my kayak. Now I know what to do with the leftover ABS. Thanks for the idea.

+KayakFreaks Depends what you are offering for money and shipping. I haven't been able to use it much due to winter, but it is one of my favorite crates. I planned on using it alot this upcoming month when I move to Florida.

will it store 3x 3700 size plano boxes. I have been looking for an aerator/tackle storage option.
@KayakDIY8 жыл бұрын
Without being able to look I would think so. They would maybe have to stand up length ways behind the aerator. Although I think it would be possible to store three 3700 Plano size boxes.

How do I install the aerator into the 5 gallon bucket?
@KayakDIY7 жыл бұрын
Aerator which is attached to the crate has two air lines coming off it. I simply drilled holes slightly smaller than the lines and put lines into bucket then attached air stones.

Nice helpful vid bro ,,,Just and FWI and word of caution to some..Check your IFW laws before moving ANY live fish. You say you had 7 or 8 bluegill alive in the back of your truck for several hours... In the State of ME there is no use of "spiny" fish as live bait.....IE perch sunfish, baby bass ....you also are not allowed to keep any fish for consumption alive, it must either be released or dispatched. An individual is not allowed to "cull" fish unless actively fishing in a fishing tournament that is registered with the state. I stress that because in this sate, if you got pulled over with 7-8 bluegill or better yet, black crappie or a pike your looking at a $10,000 fine/fish thats $80,000. Either you wanted to put them in a pond where they did not come from Mr Bucket biologist NO NO or you were putting them in your fish tank...that is one expensive fish thank! Again, rues and regs very from state to state Keep up the good work
@KayakDIY7 жыл бұрын
+Benjamin Seale thanks. Good words of caution. We can keep fish live. Didn't know some states didn't allow fish to be kept alive.
