I love your Sprinter build story. More and more people are doing it themselves, getting what they want, and saving money. We have a 2005 Sprinter van and did our own build as well. We live in Monmouth, Oregon but when we vacation, we go to Canada. Our fourth trip two years ago was to Bella Coola, BC.
@PetiteSauvage6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeeep! It saved us a lot of money even though it was a real headache sometimes to figure everything out! :-P I never been to Bella Coola but wish I had... We drove the Cassiar highway and it was absolutely beautiful. So I guess Bella Coola was as well! And Oregon, well, it's always been a favorite of mine. Lucky you! :-)

Thanks so much sharing about your van conversion. We really appreciate the tip that rock / stone wool insulation is best against humidity & water and for sound proofing!
@PetiteSauvage6 жыл бұрын
Christina Chiew Thanks for watching! And yeah so far so good with the rock wool. Can't complain 😄
@citizenx63376 жыл бұрын
I actually believe rockwool is the worst against humidity. And rockwool without a vapor barrier is even worse. Amarite?
@griffinjar5 жыл бұрын
Lovely Vid. Really well done on the conversion. One couple got a lot of mould under their mattress due to zero ventilation between the ply and the fabric. I recommend you drill a bunch (loads) of holes in your ply to allow the mattress to breath. Big love. J

You did a very nice job on your conversion. Not very reliable & the heaters really suck. Just became a new subscriber. Love your accent, by the way.

I really hope you put a vapor barrier in front of that rockwool and taped all sides. Otherwise the warm air in the van will condense against the cold steel of the van and you will get mold! Otherwise, nice build!
@PetiteSauvage6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As for the insulation I've already discussed that in here, I won't do it anymore as everyone disagree and there are two school of thoughts on that.
@paxwallacejazz6 жыл бұрын
No vapour barrier between insulation and interior?
@PetiteSauvage6 жыл бұрын
No, we decide not to go that way as the metal wall of the van acts as a vapour barrier. So far there is no sign of humidity. We have good ventilation.
@Stewbular6 жыл бұрын
Petite Sauvage you use a vapor barrier to protect the inside of the steel van walls from rusting. But if extremely well ventilated esp when cooking or heating you might be ok
@PetiteSauvage6 жыл бұрын
Yeah well there are two school of thoughts about that. We chose that one. And our heating system is an espar, so it's dry heat. Not like the propane ones. It helps a lot!
