As a Canadian I love the idea of a tartan for John McCrae. Here are the colours that I would use. Red: To symbolize the poppies mentioned in the poem and represent the blood of fallen soldiers and their sacrifice. Green: For the fields and nature, symbolizing growth, renewal, and the contrast to the devastation of war. Black: To represent the death and mourning for those who have passed. White: For peace, hope, and the crosses marking the graves. Gold: To symbolize the sunlight and the hope for a brighter future.

OH, in addition to the below, I enjoyed this video and the ideas offered. Eric's Mad Jack was fun. The Flanders Field would be a great tartan to wear when visiting cemeteries and other solemn military events. David

Major Dick Winters (of Band of Brothers fame). Colors would be those found in the "Pair-O-Dice" insignia of the 506th Parachute Infantry patch. Blue, Yellow, Red, White and Black.

I would purchase a kilt in Mac's "McCrae/In Flanders' Fields" tartan. A "Mad Jack" tartan would also be quite badass.

I'd absolutely buy Mac's tartan... Before we said 'from the Isles' I was going to say either Napoleon or Toussaint L'ouverture. They both could have similar pallettes but that's where I went first

Sir Ernest Shacklton, in blues, white, brown and green. Blues due to the sea, white due to the snow and sails of his expedition ship Endurance. Brown representing the wooden hulls of Endurance and green for his native Ireland. Just a thought.

I'm lovin' these new series of historic shows: Bridgerton 🇬🇧🎶🏴, 'Vikings' 🏞️⚔️🌍, 'Vikings: Vahalla' 🇸🇪🇩🇰🏴 (which I am saddened it's only lasting 3 seasons 😭🥲😥), and 'The Last Kingdom 🏰📜🐎'. Lots of these feature either notable figures throughout their respective histories, and for that these will forever be some of my favorite historical shows ✨☺️🩷. Definitely a must-see for these, if anyone _hasn't_ watched them 📋 ✅.

Would it be possible to design a tartan for all the families that because of the death of male hares, the family name died out or the family name ended before tartans were even made?

I wish I could afford my families tartan but on a disabled veterans pay that won’t happen but it would be amazing.

My family comes from Armagh county at least two generations anyway but our name is not listed in that county. Do you know if there is a county with the name McGaughey? I looked at a few counties but didn't come up with anything. Thank you for your help.

Just because a name isn't listed with a certain Irish county doesn't mean that there weren't members of that family that lived there. If you know what county your family is from, then go with that

I’d buy Mac’s tartan

Sorry. This is not a person. I've long wanted to design a tartan for the US Navy, as there is no official US Navy tartan. The existing US Navy related tartans don't speak to me. Is there any way to get a consult with you on the design? I am willing to pay for someone's expert time.. I've designed it on your website designer. Below is the word description. US Navy Tartan Description and Meaning The tartan design is intended to represent the broad navy family. Each color is associated with a broad occupational group. The overall field is Navy Blue, unifying all of the Navy The gold is the color of the officers rank stripes The remaining colors represent the stripes on the rank badges of the E-1,2, and 3 for the various occupational groups The black and white stripes represent the ratings within the deck group Black is worn on the white uniform White is worn on the navy blue uniform The red is for the engineering group The light blue for the construction battalion (aka Seabee) group The green for the aviation group. The five narrow white bands brings all the occupational groups together to create one proud force David
