Where I live, we don't have dual carriageways or motorways. It's just small roads and short journeys. It sounds like the diesel engine in the Discovery is a bad idea for where I live based on what you say in the video about the engine requiring a good drive. I'm not aware of other manufacturers having this issue. Will it be addressed with the Ingenium engine as the petrol Discovery is not economical enough for driving in Europe.

All diesel cars with a DPF (so almost all and certainly all new ones from at least 2008) require a decent drive to clean out the DPF. Alternatively, you can force it using a plug in for the OBD2 port.

Electric cars are not actually good for the enviorenment. And there is talk on Synthetic fuel. Not everybody wants electric so it's not time for electric cars.
