0:00 Intro
0:05 The technician said: "They said they were driving at 80mph, so around 15k in first gear, and the customers were actually laughing that they did this by accident and weren't mad."
The car needs a new transmission and engine but it might be going to the scrap yard instead.
0:23 Rear brakes were metal to metal (non-existent), so somebody had the rear brake hoses pinched off. Bolts to bolt in the brake calipers were almost missing.
0:38 The technician said: "ISX12 G Cummins engine."
They got the company to approve the repairs for new engine mounts and installed them when they installed the new cylinder head.
0:50 The bunny was fine and made its way outside.
0:58 The technician said: "The car came in because the customer said it died on her a few times while driving when she turned the lights on. She thought the car had a draw and had noted having an alternator installed by someone else 9 months prior. The car had no such symptom and no draw, so I asked the advisor to give the customer half the diag time back as the battery and charging system all tested fine. The customer did not mention this, but it was obvious the car had been sitting for some time. She mentioned the brakes were grinding but didn't pay for an inspection or service. I found the tires to be mismatched -- fronts were studless snow tires and the rears were bald all seasons. All were cracking terribly.
The front driver-side brake pads were on the metal and had destroyed the rotor, but only on this corner. The belt was missing almost an entire rib and had little backing material left, only the reinforced ribs. These were only about half the issues, and the oil hadn't been changed in over 15k miles.
This customer was new and very offended when we made her aware that we could not let the car drive out like that, it would tires and brake repairs, or a tow. She then changed what she wanted diagnosed, she declined all repairs and said she might buy tires and brakes if we could tell her why the car wasn't passing emissions. The car had a CEL and did not communicate with any scan tool including our factory Mercedes tool.
I found that the front SAM had water damage, it will need to be replaced and programmed before we can look into the CEL. I have yet to hear back on whether they will pursue any of the repairs or services."
1:17 The customer's brother welded a piece of metal on a brake pad backing plate to use as a brake pad...
1:24 The technician thinks that it was the customer who dropped something in his engine but was blaming it on another shop.
1:43 Ford Fusion got new front and rear shocks.
1:51 The technician said: "This is a common fault to see on Dodge's which can be fixed by "flashing" the ECU. "
1:57 2014 Ford F-150. As mentioned the mobile mechanic didn't even want to try and fix this customer's mess of wiring.
2:06 The customer cut a hole in the hub cap for the tire stem which he didn't need to do as the hub cap has a spot to make room for the tire stem.
2:13 The technician said the customer just got into an accident and brought it in for the "loud noise".
2:23 The customer said apparently another shop was the last to install the brakes on his car.
2:30 The technician said: "Severely corroded brake booster on a Mercedes-Benz R320 CDI, there is a big recall due to this happening on ml, gl and r class models, hundreds of thousands of cars have been affected".
2:39 No extra info.
2:49 2021 Toyota Venza. The customer had a flat tire multiple times, kept driving on the flat tire, and filled up the tires afterward. The customer got a new tire installed.
2:56 "Guy driving and pulling a trailer on a trailer does not have the load properly strapped down properly."
3:04 Thanks for watching!

@@jacksprat9209 You ever owned a manual transmission? It will spin just fine, the the tires have far more friction torque than what is required to spin the engine in gear, it's just engine compression that resists and that's not much force. @@kahlzun in my view, most of the stuff in these videos are people being to cheap to get things taken care of properly. The cynical view is that they prioritize less important things, but the more optimistic view is that some people genuinely are living paycheck to paycheck without excess and struggling to make ends meet...and'll do anything possible to get to work. Living life one day at a time - the whole "oil changes are cheap, engines are expensive" logic only works if you can actually afford an oil change (just an example). When I hit rock bottom, I didn't try any janky repairs lol but I did put car things off for as long as possible...knowing that rock bottom wasn't going to last forever. Idiots and negligent types aside, some people really do have a lot of things going on in their life sometimes that stack up and have to be juggled. Layoffs, medical expenses, other surprise emergencies, the overdraft fees and loan fees that result from all of this, etc. - a car slowly falling apart becomes symbolic of how that financial strain can introduce even more financial strain...thereby prolonging being able to take care of certain things as soon as you'd planned. That said, most of the clips in these videos are beyond redemption lol... I'm at a point now where I'm a bit too trigger happy replacing car parts at signs of a problem, but that's because I can comfortably afford to do so.

The mass of bodgy wires at 2:00:- It reminded me of when I worked as a TV repairman many years ago. We got a call from an old pensioner guy, so I went to his house and inspected his TV. It was dissassembled, had a mass of added wires in a rat-nest like bundle like in this video, and a lot of parts and factory wires had been cut. He was most annoyed when I refused to work on it. It was a recent model top of the line Philips colour set too - rendered totally valueless. He reckoned that as he had dissassembled it, it should make my job easier. I found out later the old twit always had a go himself, whenever something went faulty - cars, electronics, fridges - anything. And every time he had no success and the item became a write-off.

I love your videos. And thanks again to convert everything to metric. Am surprised how some people so ignorant and careless to their vehicles. I never thought that level of stupidity is existed, specially when safety concerns raised by the mechanic, and the owner will decline the repairs. If you can't afford a vehicle maintenance, better of walking.

tying the caravan down to itself is classic, now I know where all the pairs of mole-grips I've bought over the years ended up, under people's cars holding suspension and steering struts together, what a gem of an idea, nuts and bolts are just far too easy, cable ties as well. . .

My first thought was that they ran out of strap length, but a closer look and that seems to not be so. And if they WERE out of strap length to go over the trailer then they could have strapped over the frame where it extends to hold the spare wheel.

2:32 - Corroded brake booster. I've only recently got my UK 2008 ML320 Merc back after it was condemned for this issue. Mercedes fitted a rubber shroud around the booster and water would get under it and rot into the booster. Took me over 3 months waiting to get the car back due to problems getting replacement parts. I was told that of 500 cars they first tested here in North Yorkshire mine was the first of three to have the problem.

@@JustRolledIn Bolted on weights on crankshafts are not that unusual. They have been used for as long as there have been crankshafts in engines. It's never a problem if the bolts are torqued down to specification and split pins inserted. But, for a long as there have been crankshafts in engines, there have been backyarders and incompetent mechanics who can't be bothered with torque wrenches and forget to put the pins in.

When I was a newspaper delivery driver with my wife, I witnessed a person flat towing their car behind their RV and it was smoking and sparking down the road and making the most god awful sound. They ended up pulling into a Wawa (gas station) parking lot and we left to start our route. When we finished the first neighborhood we had to pass the Wawa again and we saw the RV and car about 1/4 mile down the road completely engulfed in flames. Stupidest thing I have ever witnessed in person.
