PSA - If your vehicle is equipped with lug locks, please have the key at the ready when you pull your vehicle up for service. Otherwise, techs are forced to play "where'd they hide it this time?" Sure, sometimes we get lucky and pick the right spot on the 1st or 2nd try. And then, there's those other times. It does get tedious and becomes a waste of time when it's stuck in some rando spot that your average owner would never think to put it. Then you have those people who have the unmitigated gall to be upset that we looked for it. Save everyone the hassle and just have it out and visible. Or, better yet, just tell the service advisor where it is. Either way, it's kind of a necessity to do various tasks. On a final note, do y'all realize how WE feel having to rifle through another person's ish in their car to find a necessary tool? The things I have come across that I NEVER wanted to see... yeah. Please. Save us all the cringe.

I am Canadian, and I shoot guns often. It is not illegal to transport ammunition in Canada, and there's nothing that says "must be only to the range or hunting grounds" regarding ammo - that (British?) mechanic doesn't know what he's talking about. It's fairly common for farmers for example to have live ammo in their truck for pest control and stuff, and they drive around town all the time. Other than that it is not a common practice unless people are doing a range or hunting day. What I will say though is that it is very unsafe to just have it all rolling around and somewhat out in the open. I did see a "time to take back Canada" clownvoy sticker on the window of the truck though so that kind of tells me everything I need to know about the driver.

"Opened the gas cap and found a McDouble sandwich". I can't even. Why? How? Did the person think their car eats McDonalds for fuel?!?
@soaringvulture3 сағат бұрын
My brother's 5-year-old kid put a sandwich down the gas filler of the family car because he wanted to feed it. This could happen to others.

We had a similar rim issue a while back. I pointed out the crack to the customer. He had it welded 3 times. It never completely closed. We could see it without magnifying the weld.

It's legal to drive around with ammo in Canada, just can't drive around with it loaded in a gun. Most rifles and shotguns can be in the vehicle too if unloaded (although not advisable outside of rural areas) Handguns and certain rifles are the only thing we are restricted to only taking to ranges.

What in the world is wrong with changing oil once a year if you don't hit the mileage you're supposed to change it at? Americans ...
@joeyjamison5772Сағат бұрын
Yes, me too. I have a Honda Civic and the onboard computer monitors your driving situations and habits. When you need to change the oil, it lets you know. I average 2 years, but drive only 2,000-3,000 miles a year.

4:35 or the CV joint boot got rekt and dirt got into joint damaging it. Wire doesn't simply cut drive shafts
@Schizachyrium_Scoparium6 сағат бұрын
The owner probably continued to drive with the wire up in the wheel, at highway speeds it would eventually cut through no problem.
@TH-bj1pb5 сағат бұрын
@Schizachyrium_Scoparium simply no, because drive shafts are like 60+ rockwell hardness. The boot is damaged, then the grease gets flung out and replaced with dirt. Click, clack, Click, clack, pop bang.
@darthkarl995 сағат бұрын
Actually there are cutting systems that do use wire to cut with, that said if it was the wire it was a real freak occurrence.
@JustsomeblokeinYorkshire5 сағат бұрын
I used to be a member of a parachute club. In one freak incident, a skydiver got blown off course and landed in the road at the end of the drop zone. She was OK but, instead of waiting for her to grab her chute out of the road, an idiot in a Volvo (who had watched her land) tried to drive over the cords, which got picked up by the wheels. The skydiver released her chute from her harness so that she wasn't dragged along by the car. We were always told that parachute cord was tough stuff... turned out that when wound round a drive shaft it could easily pull through steel... the front of the car was cut to pieces.
