Customising an NXT North American Replica Belt

In this video I show some of the process in customising a WWE Shop NXT North American Replica Belt.
The belt replaces the standard wide leather strap with a much more traditional tighter leather cut around the plates. The strap does keep the tooling design on the bulk of the leather. It is finished in a bright burgundy leather colour just like the belt used on TV. This is a much richer colour than the dull brown of the replica straps.

See, this is what the strap should've looked like from the start and I'll never understand why Trips or whomever settled on the fat strap. It worked for the NWA World Title but not this belt. 10/10

Its just regular leather dye airbrushed on. With coloured leathers certain colours apply on extremely unevenly when using a brush or sponge. For these colours they need to be slowly airbrushed on layer by layer to build up an even colour.

Hey man, I don’t know much about his method when it comes to the custom strap cut. Bud I do know that most of the time you want to dye the leather using a sponge or even a brush. But sometimes working with more vibrant colors, including the shade of red of this strap, the dye may look sloppy and dye darker in a lot if places running the look of the strap. That goes applies to everyone, beginners, experts and anyone in between. Si air brushing allows more even coats of dye. You just have to go over it more times. Hope this helps. Btw to see what I meant by a “sloppy look” just go look at the strap of the Universal Title when it first debuted and the red dye work on that.
