If I can make a suggestion for the coaches. The Japanese coaches you can get with the special plarail C12 Thomas and C57 James. Those coaches already look very similar to the Pullman heavyweight coaches. Only a little bit of cardboard on the roof of the coaches would be the only real modification needed other than painting them. Also they are relatively cheap since those coaches are still being produced. But that’s only a suggestion.

You should cut a hole in the top of the boiler and extend the switch so you don’t use the paper clip ( I’m still mid way in the video)

The Pere Marquette (pronounced Pear market) 1225 is an N-1 class of berkshire type steam locomotive built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works. Those indication lights on the front are marker lights/classification lights. The area that you pointed to infront of the cab, those are the safety valves, those pop when you build enough boiler pressure to run, or when bad things are gonna happen. The big box on top of the boiler, right infront of the cab, is called the turret, under here is some hidden valves and such to just make everything look nicer. The other, circular valve infront of the turret, is called the blowdown. This is what you use for shutdown, although not the only thing. For what it is, this is actually really awesome. I volunteer with the real thing, and it is always cool to see peoples videos, and creations.

Fun fact, PM 1225 actually double headed with its slightly more modern cousin NKP 765. However, the most notorious event with these engines was the parallel run on CSX trackage.

I’m probably going to redo my BigBoy one day, main shell is in a bad state, plus for some ideas from this I could apply to it so it could be an improvement. Although two directions would be awesome It can only go forwards, I simply just attached a paper clip to the main switch(redirected it through the cab)
