I quite agree with the ladies about the cut pressure. I just broke my blade following Julie's advice :( And because it broke down low in the holder and can't be removed fully, I have to replace both :(( So, I highly recommend that you do NOT increase the cut pressure, at least until you do a test cut. Then maybe if necessary increase in small increments. BTW, I also scored my mat fairly deeply - still usable though.

I have the 110 model. I've only used it for paper as yet but now I would like to use for cutting vinyl shapes for machine embroidery. Can anyone advise what blade settings I should use please. I have the Deep Cut blade & when I tried it, it cut through the mat in places & dragged the vinyl about.

So if it cuts 2mm then would it cut basswood at 1:5mm thick? How small can u cut?

On watching the demonstration for this machine on the Tv they say your pressure should be on one and work up your blade before you even take the pressure up to number 2 .... they start with a blade on 8 work it up to about 11 before they take the pressure to number two they said you shouldn not start the pressure high because it damage the blade infact they cut MDF on pressure 0 Everyone says different ???.... Good video tho always clear thank you x

I agree, if I have the blade on 12 and pressure on 6 it moves my chipboard on the mat and doesn't cut the pattern. I was using a new mat and thinner chipboard, but I start to get really frustrated by this machine. It's not the big hurray I expected :-(

I've just looked at this on the brother site and it says...max thick with deep blade is 1.5mm"........I'm not sure how thick that is but it seems not much....the chipboard on the video looks like the kind you get on a cereal box, not like the chipboard pieces bought in a craft store 😞

It rips at the board, won't stick to a brand new mat, cuts through the mat. I followed your instructions to the letter and ended up with a big mess each time!

Yes it does rip the board and my machine is brand new with the right blade and material.

What about cutting flannel? I haven't found anything about cutting flannel and I keep cutting my mat... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.. do you have a video about it that maybe I missed?
@ADayInLisasLife39477 жыл бұрын
Heather Jensen, do you have the fabric cutting sheets which give stability to the fabrics? Do you have the hi-tac mat for fabric? It seems the deep cut blade and holder, which works on heavy fabric, like denim, might be what you need for flannel, not because it is heavy, but because of the deeper nap.

I set my cut pressure no higher than 3 and blade at 12 and cut the shape twice. This the chipboard I use: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DQW7SW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Thickness is 0.60mm or 0.0235 inch (a little less than 1/32 inch). I have to clean my mat each time.

what is cipboard in US is cardboard for rest of planet. Chipboard is WOOD
In the UK it is called construction or grey board and the cm series can cut 750 micron or 1000 micron I use it all the time on my cm900 I set the blade to 7 then 10 for the 750 and 8,9,10 on 1000micron but every machine is different so please do a test cut this was using the normal blade.
