Most people don’t use the welded loops correctly. You are supposed to make sure the handshake knot is completely tightened and flattened out. I use blood knot leaders made with a butt section of 30 lb. Maxima, and with a perfection loop. This works for line weights 4-7 (go with 40 lb butt section 8 wt and above, and a 25 lb. butt section for 3 wt). If it’s tightened completely, no loss in energy transfer and no noticeable hinging.

Hi and Thank you for not leaving me alone with those thoughts about the prelooped fly lines. I’ve been feeling I was the only one crazy guy who thinks in the way you are. Thanks again for sharing your video

I 100 percent disagree. All of those reasons are bunk as hell.

Braided loops are nasty the energy transfer is worse than a welded loop the nail not is just perfect 👍

Spot on Tim! Completely agree with you. They have those stiffer end braided loop to ‘better’ transfer the line energy but nothing beats the Nail knot. Only problem with the nail knot is it’s not great for those tapered leader with thick chunky ends. Better to construct the leader from scratch. 👍👍
