thank you! apologies for the extremely late response - going through some older videos and finding unread comments! I don't prefer alcohol inks because they are notorious for fading over time... some brands fade within months! I've heard there are some better ones now...but I still don't use them often, just in case.

Steve MacDonald has a lot of basic resin how to videos. Especially important to follow the safety rules. Although craft resin generally only requires gloves so you don't develop an allergy to it. But some resins require a respirator too.

you can definitely try to put them straight in the mold but I worry about shifting or curling, so using this technique pretty much eliminates those worries for me.

🥰💖thank you so much for your kind words Tania, I'm so happy that you enjoy my videos. Yes, I use Counter Culture DIY's Artist Thin, it is both uv and heat resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. It's important to note that most resins take 30+ days to fully reach their max scratch and heat resistance ... so any time before that, they are more easily damaged.

Very good video. I bought acetate stickers from the washi tape shop and wasn’t sure how to use them. Do the stickers need to be removed from the acetate or do you just trim around the image and apply with the acetate attached. Might be a dumb question but idn want to waste any of them. Ty

I haven't tried those specific ones yet...but if they already are attached to acetate or are made of acetate, then you should be fine to use as is...the purpose of the acetate to give the materials some structure so they don't warp when in the resin. Best wishes!

Floated up (to the back of the mold) or to the front of the heart (sank down)?

@@LiaDiaDesigns to the top.. so poured some resin, placed the transparency. Then the resin. It then floated to the top as it was curing. So when it was demoulded it was showing through the back of the heart

I have some alcohol inks I bought years ago when I first started resin, but didn't like using them... so they are stored away... maybe I'll do some tests with them (for science!😅💕)

Going through some of my older videos and finding unread messages - sorry for the delayed response. My biggest worry is the alcohol inks are notorious for fading, some as quickly as a few months! So I prefer dyes, though you cannot get all the same "special effects" as alcohol ink. I have heard there are some better brands now though..so maybe it's worth a try again.

I tried this technique today and so very disappointed. I used exactly what you used and the same technique. It seems the nail foil doesn't want to stay stuck to the acetate and keeps lifting. Its been about 3 hours and still not dried. Do you have any insights you can share with me? Thanks

Hm... did you apply it very thick? If it's thickly laid on..it could upwards of 6-8 hours

yes, i believe as long as the mold is semi transparent for the light to shine through, it should work.

You need to be careful with glue, some of them with yellow over time in resin... I prefer the varnish, but I know some people use modge podge with success
