Gawd what a career Paul Humphrey had. From Frank Zappa (“Apostrophe “) to Marvin Gaye (“Let’s Get it On”) to Steely Dan (“Black Cow”) to Lawrence Welk. This must’ve been a pretty well paying gig.

@@futilitymusic Paul Humphrey played on “ Son of Mr Green Genes” on Hot Rats. Kinda interesting that Paul who played on What’s Going On, and with Zappa and Steely Dan ( and also was a longtime player with Jerry Garcia/ Merl Sanders) would take the Lawrence Welk gig. My theory is he wanted to buy a house and the bank wouldn’t give him a mortgage until he had a steady job. LW was probably a well paying gig and wouldn’t interfere with all his studio gigs.
