Djinn is smart and learned which part of the balloon doesnt make it pop so he can move it to where he wants, showing off that natural hunting instincts fennecs have for going after scorpions and the like.
@DjinnTheFennecFox4 жыл бұрын
That's true! He always seems to know which part of the insects he can safely hold onto and which part bites or stings. To Djinn, it's like 99% of a balloon will "bite", hahahaha 🤗🥰

@@George89999 I think so too! We were very surprised to see him having so much fun with loud noises. We have metal plates to cover up a part of the garage floor. When you step on those, they shift, echoing metal on metal very loudly. So we never step on them. Djinn, on the other hand... he thinks that sound is beautiful and constantly walks over those plates "cloinck, bang, cloinck!" 😂

I do have to say Djinn is one of the chillest Fennecs I've seen because that is usually not the case with alot of them. While they can be very sweet and loving companions, they do tend to be a bit more skittish and can be a challenging pet to have for other reasons as well. Owning them is NEVER to be taken lightly and most definately not for the irresponsible or uncommitted. People get to impulsive because of the cuteness factor and don't think it through about all the work involved. That being said I can see you love him very much and have taken alot of care in raising him.
@DjinnTheFennecFox4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Indeed, it's most likely that a fox, any fox, will take up alllll your time. Otherwise they will stay or become wild, bitey, insecure, skittish... With lots time, patience and consistent training, you'll be able boost your fox's confidence, make him curious instead of afraid, and turn him into a little, loving daredevil. However, there will always be moments where a fox is still a fox and will bite you or dig his way through your couch. Video recording and editing takes a lot of time, but I'm trying to provide as much insight about fox ownership as possible. I've still got lots of things to show to possibly future fox owners! Cute as well as non-cute videos 😉

@@DjinnTheFennecFox yes that is correct. I volunteered for a rescue group many years ago and it was so sad to see how many dumb people surrendered these animals because they thought they just wanted a cool pet and didn't consider the work involved especially with reds and arctic foxes. Well, he killed all those poor balloons already; no more left 😉 But would he really go on and pop them if it would hurt his ears that bad? I don't know... He'd already lost a bit of interest in them, so I threw them away now. I do need to find him new things to play with, regularly. At the moment, he spends a lot of time in the kitchen: smelling and tasting (safe) food. He likes to discover new things, keeps him entertained 🥰
@Jimfoxyboy4 жыл бұрын
@@DjinnTheFennecFox He'd probably be too wrapped up in the hunt to really know what happened. Fennecs can hear insects wriggling around under the sand with their ears. Popping balloons can be louder than a firecracker up close. Probably for the best that popping balloons didn't become one of his favorite past times. Of course, anything to do with food, will always be interested in, I bet. At least both of you are keeping each other busy, trying to think of new things to do. 🦊💕

OK, so he's a brave little lad! But, what about his ears? Put simply, we humans are strongly advised not to listen to too loud music since it can irreversibly ruin our hearing. Now, given that information, and what with Djinns extra huge radar ears, presumably to pick out the slightest sound, I would worry about giving him loud bangs to play with. However funny this is, please consider a quieter toy. I apologise in advance for my preaching, but I have grown to love this little fellow from your wonderful videos! 🥰🦴🐾💐🐛🦗🤐🤗🤔😱
@the-chillian4 жыл бұрын
Bear in mind that the large ears are not for more efficient hearing, but for thermoregulation of a tiny body adapted to living in a hot desert. His body adjusts its temperature by increasing or decreasing blood flow to his ears, which then radiate either more or less excess heat. While their hearing is quite good, it's not any more sensitive than that of, say, my cats, who can also hear prey moving underground.
