So on the mouths, hair, eye screens, emotions/mindsets, and hand/body basic shape, it is well tested that most humans react most positively to machines and beings which show clear and relatable expressions and physical features, and since these bots came from a consumer focused company (both groups) the way that they were made to closely mimic humans whilst being entirely obvious about being non-human to avoid the uncanny valley effect is actually almost exactly what is theorized to be the eventual common build for robots which interact with people often.

From rewatching the explosion I guess the reason the human skeleton all froze solid with sideways icicles is because the explosion basically punched a huge chunck of the atmosphere into space with a deep gaping hole which is now the new lowest point where the rest of the atmosphere would sink into leaving the rest of the planet without one or it being extremely thin outside the hole if any. The blast probably killed most people from the shockwave. Then as the shockwave died out, the atmosphere affected by gravity probably rushed back into the lowest point with the lowest density, into the newly formed continent sized gaping hole. The atmosphere rushing into the hole probably caused a lots of constant wind while the atmosphere moved. The atmosphere moving into the hole mean that it thinned elsewhere and maybe other places got little to no atmosphere afterward, leaving the heat to varies to the extremes based on exposure to the sun. The remaining human if any, died as they froze in a hurricane from the atmosphere moving into the sinkhole The debris launched into the atmosphere probably spread out in the air forming a nuclear winter and shield partly the planet from being exposed to the sun, basically causing a no atmosphere ice age as the heat can't reach the planet and the thin to no atmosphere doesn't help regulating heat disparities. With the holes in the sky debris leaving room for place to be exposed to the sun would be scorching hot with freezing patches where there is shadow. Small bonus the icicles would be pointing toward the hole or explosion center instead of away from it. It's honestly just my own guesswork, but it seems to check out from what was seen.

About robots family concept and neural network. Neural Network overly simplified: A neural network is a way to simulate neuron network in a machine and make said machine learn from experiences or simulation rather than just upload knowledge as is. So instead of programming all input for a given task, you basically give only the controls and goals and let the machine figure out what to do or not do. The machine basically end up learning trying out things and observing what worked and what didn't to improve doing a certain given task. Neural Networks can be rewarded or punished on certain conditions in order to either repress or encourage certain behaviors. Family parallels: In a machine society it makes sense that they could form families in the sense that untrained neural networks are the same a human child, it doesn't know how to do almost anything. It basically need another unit to either teach it or to put it trough learning scenarios that wouldn't compromised the learning neural network, literally shielding it from making mistakes that could damage it before it has a grasp on how to protect itself and rewarding good behavior and punishing awful behavior, sort of like an actual parent. The untrained neural networks need either a parent or a trainer to survive infancy, initiates some training that wouldn't start or happen on it's own, help promote good behavior that doesn't get recognize easily as an improvement early on and discourage bad behavior.

I don't know if you noticed and just didn't say cause you had already rambled so much about the crayon effect when you paused the pilot at 4 minutes 17 seconds. But the path of the crayon marks are in perfect lines as if it were some robot moving the crayon side to side and progressing down the space they are filling with crayon much like a printer. Which of course they are robots, so they have that sort of precision as opposed to the more chaotic and slightly curved paths of crayon that would result from a human coloring in the space. It's that level of detail this show brings. A tiny seemingly unimportant detail to include, and they're everywhere. It all helps to sell the world Liam is building, and I love it.
