It drives me mad to see a supposedly adult behaving like this in front of a 5 years old girl. He noticed she was scared by his screams, and continued to act like an idiot clown incapable of compassion. I think he is just acting, just to show to Mima that he is not pulling his punches. He is a comedian, and if it's apparent to everyone that he's letting her win from compassion, he is not a comedian.

Oh if he just acting then... It is not about whether he is acting or not, it is about the consequences on a 5 years old little girl. Then both the actor and the prod are responsible for insane management.

Indeed, but that’s not the point. The point is the behavior of this man in front of a child, just for tv purpose. At this age, trying to humiliate a kid in front of everyone can live big scars, even if she wins big medals afterward

@@tawanook8087 The 5-year-old Mima Ito doesn't understand that he is an actor playing around. She is confused and clearly scared by his behaviour. This is no way to treat a child. It's negligent if not outright abusive.

Nah it's not. Asian culture is different, notice how Japanese kids are a lot more respectful than these western kids? This isn't cruel at all from our perspective, it's basically just them having fun. At the end of the day, there's certainly no "trauma" that Ito has gained from that.

She was not a 5 year old champion but a 5 year old girl who was a future champion. It is cruel to traumatize children in the name of entertainment. Some may be harmed for a long time. In Ito's case, maybe the experience of being bullied by a big bozo helped compel her to excel to dominance.
