Thank you SO much for your instructions on the 1181. I don't know what I would do without them. It's crazy how industrial machines come with ZERO instructional materials with these high-priced items (I refuse to consider the few pages of incoherent junk they have online as legitimate instructions). I don't know why on Earth Juki can't include a decent manual for this price. You've saved my business- THANK YOU!!!!!

Its because a LOT of people simply toss them in the trash and they know it by all the calls they get asking questions which are answered in said manuals. So, to save costs they dont provide much if any.

Agreed…manual says nothing of lever to raise presser foot but this video helped 👍

As a relative beginner who would want to make clothing (denim jeans for example)/Bags etc. Would this be a worthwhile investment? Or would you recommend other more suitable machines for working with Denim fabrics multiple layers?
@haarnoz3 ай бұрын
This machine will sew material leather or cloth up to 3/8" thick". This is an industrial machine intended to last years being used many hours a day, 6 days a week. There is a learning curve for inexperienced, untrained.

I agree with the last comment as I live up in the Hill of Candor NY and I have to look at KZbin to find out the answers. Like this: I want to make a quilt and what is the lightest weight thread that I can use on my Juki 1181 with allcotton fabric?
@vinche1228 ай бұрын
yes, please consider it’s easier to set for thin fabric a machine for heavy work than the opposite

Do you think the 1181 would be good for boat canvas, cushions and or auto seats?

Will this sew thick leather?
@CutSew2 жыл бұрын
No. A Juki 1560N walking foot or the 1541S work better with leather. The thicker, the more we would suggest the 1560N.

This IS a WALKING foot machine. Besides the presser foot, there's a walking foot to advance the material on top, besides the feed dogs below

Hello! Can this model handle sewing leather bags (soft leather) and also, can it handle a lot of bulk to make top stitching easier on bowl cozy's? Thanks.

Sorry Linda, at this time we have no knowledge of "bowl cozys", we checked with the techs, but it can certainly work with soft leather.

@CutSew4 жыл бұрын
Triple action feed is a true walking foot. Check out videos on the Juki DNU-1541S
@haarnoz3 ай бұрын
This IS a WALKING FOOT. It HAS a walking foot. The triple feed is a better type of walking foot. This will easily sew leather up to 3/8" thick - veg tan or chrome

can you change from the walking foot to a normal one?
@JJZBULLITT109 Жыл бұрын
By normal you mean bottom feed only? No. These machines aren't meant for light garment work.

I’m currently looking at the 1181N and the 1541/1541s. I sew a variety of fabrics from chiffon up to 5/6oz genuine leather ( currently by hand). Which one would you recommend? In the video you sew “thinner” fabric so could it sew both? Or would I need two different machine, one for light weight fabric and another for my leather work? Thanks in advance
@CutSew3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Heavier leathers that you mentioned would be best sewn by the 1541S, whereas the lightweight materials may bunch up under the foot of the same machine. You could try the lightweight with the 1541s, but you may just need a single needle lockstitch like the Juki DDL-8700
@re90733 жыл бұрын
@@CutSew thank you so much for responding I currently have a domestic Huqsvarna Viking that I sew on, but it can only handle up to 2/3 oz. guess I’ll have to keep it in addition to getting the 1541s.
@haarnoz3 ай бұрын
You could sew both, but it would be a lot of work changing thread sizes, needle sizes (extremely different from thin thread and needle to thick thread and needle) as well as changes to bobbin thread tension and upper thread tension balance. With home type of machines, they mostly only use one size thread. Industrial machines can use many different sizes. This one from thin 40 - 138 thick
