Glad to finally find time to watch all these. I believe my 96 spun a rod bearing 2 years ago and the shop we built is almost ready to serve it's purpose

I driven tdi vw along with tdi cummins for a long time . I drove the slow as hell id na vw diesel because it was good on fuel lol . At any rate pressure testing heads a great idea ..I got my tdi jetta hot and I pretty sure I cracked the head now . At any rate I pulled it down and carried it to a machine shop to be tested valves ground. Surfaced ect . Put it back together new bolts gaskets ect . Damn thing still has a problem. So I called the shop how did you test the aluminum head for cracks , well 🤔 of course we looked at it . Yea . Lesson learned don't get the engine hot secondly carry your parts to folks that specialize in your engine not just 350 chev engine... I sure you test those heads also. I think I talked to a fellow who does that in Kansas on tdi jetta engine. Thanks for your videos

this is old fashioned machine shop knowledge.. Thanks Rob. Real behind the scenes how an engine is built. Lots of hard work and details.. If you want it done right, don't bitch about the price... Ha

@@CUTTERUPROB 0:34 if you use a bucket of drain-o which is sodium hydroxide it will dissolve the left over aluminum it’s a lot easier then trying to chip all of it out

Rewatching this, do the cracks leak compression? Coolant?....any idea why?.. is it junk if it's cracked?..
@CUTTERUPROB3 жыл бұрын
can leak both, coolant in the oil on a 12v is a common one. if its cracked some times you can fix them but the price of a new casting hard to spend the money to fix

@@CUTTERUPROB thank you for your fast reply, and then the subsequent sharing of that play list! Just an FYI though, I'm not seeing that on my end as a playlist though. I see the playlist in the link you shared but when i click on your channel's playlist it does not come up as an option.
