@@randominternetsurfersurfin7595 Lars uses a trick-shot bow (claims 50 lbs draw weight) and often pulls the bow back partway for his speed and trick-shooting. For combat and military purposes, ~80 lbs draw weight is generally the _minimum,_ with ~120-130 being the standard when armor is involved to pretty much any capacity. 60-70 is the standard range for hunting medium to somewhat large game. Accuracy and precision both tend to decrease with draw weight, even if you can handle it. The design of the bow itself also is inherently not that accurate. Being able to reliably shoot a _string_ with an appropriate bow at distance, is actually quite a feat of user accuracy, and if the target is moving or obscured, involves a great deal of fortune.

A bows limbs aren't meant to absorb the tension of release without propelling an arrow. All the kinetic energy that would go into the arrow instead needs to be handled entirely by the limbs, which can destroy them. It's why you don't dry fire a bow. That said, not sure how bad it actually is in practice, but definitely not something you want to do regularly.

People with guns aren’t even taught to shoot for the head because EVEN THAT is too small a target! With a firearm, center mass is the target. Does that change with a bow, since you can’t fire as often, so you need a more crippling blow? I’m not sure if one arrow to the chest would take someone down, at least not quick enough for them to kill you in return

Breaker the lymb of the bow would be more effective as it'll send the broken lymb back at the person drawing the bow
@PJDAltamirus04253 ай бұрын
Yeah, breaking the limbs while under would not only destroy the bow, the force of the limbs flying back a hi power could seriously wound the enemy archer. Would if the reasons for such low power strokes on medieval crossbows is minimalize the chances of the prod breaking, flying back and seriously harming the crossbow man. Cus the same forces that allow you fire something is the same forces that make wood and steel snap in half.

Naw... hell be fine with a dozen of your toy arrows poking him... 10-15 pound bow, not even fit for hunting. Warbows start at ~90 pounds but for an unarmored opponent in modern clothing, 70 pounds will do just fine. A 30 pound bow will hurt, but itll only be lethal if you nick an artery... good luck, because you wont get through bones or anything muscular... gonna need around 30 pounds to damage muscle tissue at 15 yards.
