I'm watching a ton of vids to learn as I wait for my first mill like this. I think this is my fav frame for the mill so far. I see the "Granberg" sticker
@danielsheets4633 жыл бұрын
granberg is just the mill on the saw. the rack is pallet racking. should be able to find some on marketplace of craigslist. basically industrial shelving

@@danielsheets463 that's what I was thinking until I saw the sticker, but thanks man, I'm on it!

Wow. Just wow. The skill on this guy is remarkable. The quality of his work is undoubtedly the best I’ve seen thus far. Makes me want to go chop down a tree myself. No wonder why they call him the Burlmaster.

Beautiful wood Daniel...though I admit, the 'woodturner' in me cringed that all of the burl was slabbed and none appeared to be saved for turning. Great work as always...

How long did you dry the burl before cutting it? How did you store the slabs to prevent splitting & cracking?

Amazing. I wish for a slab. What tipe of Stihl did you use?

I am just looking in to sorting this style pallet racking setup for milling. May I ask how you find the stability, ease of sliding on the rails ( see you have winch as well) and what is the width of the racking? I am thinking of getting the 1200mm wide version as it should give better stability overall. Do you take this and set it up out in the field, much like the Lucas mill, just build the frame around the log.
@danielsheets4634 жыл бұрын
It slides just fine. Its pretty stable I don't think mine is that wide but it would still work. I would only use this to mill odd pieces because it takes a bit to setup
@springcopsespaniels21894 жыл бұрын
@@danielsheets463 the dolly wheels, do you find them easier? I had though about making use of the internal lip and running some dolly wheels in that.
@springcopsespaniels21894 жыл бұрын
@@danielsheets463 if you were to do it again, or make changes what would they be?
@danielsheets4634 жыл бұрын
@@springcopsespaniels2189 i modified it so the dolly wheels ride on the orange part if you look up my Alaskan mill cherry burl cutting its in there.

@@danielsheets463 I finally got around to this type of setup, though have installed a few new upgrades since this video so I may do another. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp2qfYJjjteMgM0

Hey Daniel, very nice work. Could you please share with us what device did you use? The scafold is customised or could we buy from specific dealer? The model of the mill and chainsaw ( what blad did you use ).
@danielsheets4634 жыл бұрын
The scaffold is just pallet racking. Its a stihl 880 with 59" bar, granberg mark IV chainsaw mill and oregon hypertooth ripping chain

How do you dry these burl cuts, do you have to seal them whilst drying?
@danielsheets4634 жыл бұрын
I dont. I put them in the first floor of a barn that's pretty cool temperature and not too dry. Eventually I will take them to a kiln
