You stand forward to catch the short pitches or the flat pitches easier .. standing back is leaving yourself open to have strike called right at your feet and makes it harder to cut the ball correctly

Baseball players are on 90 foot base paths where softball is normally 70 what do you think that does to the infield? It makes it smaller most baseball players are at least 100 feet away from the batter which gives more reaction time to field a ball try having 100mph+ coming at you at 80 feet id say the skill level would be the same or better for a softball player and most ex mlb players play softball 🤣🤣🤣🤷‍♂️
