Hi me again. I am working on cutting corners now - a couple of things I've learned. I need to start with the HST and black rectangles "nice and flat". I also do better if I set each seam as I go. However the only way I have been able to make the second seam cross at the appropriate spot is to move my needle one notch to the left for that seam. Can't figure out why it works and regular 1/4: doesn't, but, oh, well! Having lots of fun. Thanks.

That is strange, and I can't figure out why either. Mine aren't exact; some may be off by 1/8" or so, but in the grand scheme of things, it won't show. I'm glad you're making it. I think you'll love the result. Much Love to you!

Hi, again. Two questions: 1. I am making this as a queen size with over 500 HST. What do you think about making 9 patch blocks then sewing those into rows. I would have to watch direction of pressing, etc. but it seems that it might be easier than sewing 20+ 4" squares into a long string. 2. Do you know of an easy to use quilt deign program. (Not professional grade) Just want to layout a quilt using Ohio Stars for my granddaughter's dorm room. Thanks so much for everything.

I think sewing 9-patches, then rows sounds easy and I for sure think it would work just fine. A queen-sized quilt in this design would be amazing! There is an app called 'Quilt Assistant'. It's free. It's been awhile since I used it, but it is a simple program for creating quilt layouts/blocks, etc. There is also a free app called Quiltler 2 (I think). I have it, but haven't really played with it much. I also have EQ8, but never really learned how to use it properly. Let me know what you find.
