I know all wet linered blocks can develop wear and erosion,but wouldn't those things (ISX/QSK) live longer with a top stop liner?.. just curious... thanks for your time feller 👍👊

👍👍not sure if we'll ever own one of those things,but not sure if we want to... got a small cam ( now retired)and a couple n14's that have never been opened.. little less than a million...do u see a lot of liner "issues" with N14 block?...I am aware that they have a better rod/stroke ratio which may alleviate some of the liner vibration... I know they can develope other problems down lower...but anyway, maybe u won't read this,but thank you for your time and videos.👍👊

They all have liner issues to some degree. Cat Cummins n14 big cam doesn’t matter. The mid stop isx design doesn’t seem to hold us as well but there are other contributing factors in my opinion. Like the horsepower in higher and egr and dpf cause a lot of un nessasary heat that I feel contributes. We cut plenty of CAT motors as well!

Maxwell coffee can lids work awesome for an isx bore. I couldn’t believe the price of a catch lid kit from Monaco tools. Nice work on the cut. I agree with you on a higher liner height I also herd 15 thousands on an isx is working fine.

Where from I can buy height measurements tools
@yourdieselspecialists10 ай бұрын
you can get those from monaco tool as well. Most precision tools for all things diesel can be found with Monaco or apex tool

is there a step where you put the liner and shim in and measure the actual protrusion?
@yourdieselspecialists10 ай бұрын
Yes you can set the liner in without the O rings and clamp it down with a bolt and washer to measure.

Found Cummins to be absolute junk most require full inframe rebuilds between 240 to 300,000 miles. Your doing well to get more out of them. We have switched to Volvo and getting around 750,000 miles before any heads need to come off

Why not only cut it 10k and use a 10k shim ?
@yourdieselspecialists Жыл бұрын
because 20k is the smallest shim that cummins makes. so it has to be 20k minimum.
