Felling a tree safely and efficiently is easy. Practice on several dozen trees, rely on luck and good karma, survive each encounter, learn from your mistakes. Most important, be thankful to your Guardian Angel. I enjoyed the video.

why not raise a beaver and train him to down trees that you select??? that way you wouldnt be in danger,,,,and if he got killed you would have a davy Crockett hat,,,he wasnt gonna need his skin again,,,

Nice job dude, what i do when i have sketchy trees like that is i attach a rope as high as i can up on the tree, i pull i towards where i want it to fall, i put one ton of tension on it with a hoist and i start smashing my direction cut with an axe and when im half way in the tree i put just shot in the back in the back and it goes down all fine, saved me many times

Cut your wedge first! then cut your back cut. Make sure your "wedge" cut is good before you make the back cut. Wedge should be ~ 1/3 of the tree. You basically did this backwards. And you kept trimming your wedge cut after after your tree wasn't falling when you pounded in your plastic wedges. If you had your wedge cut finished, you then cut your backcut till you have the right hinge, (uncut wood) that is slightly above the wedge cut, (inch or so) then driving your plastic wedges will topple the tree and you don't have to be there on the side of the tree that is falling. don't leave your saw in the cut while you are pounding the wedges. That tree falling can destroy your saw!

Thanks for the helpful comments. I went back and forth about doing the back cut first. I saw some videos that back cut first with back leaning trees. I may not have needed to, though.

Stihl and Husqvarna have tutorial videos about tree felling that are quite good. People die felling trees.

Not very bright sir. Never ever turn your back on a tree when cutting it down. Make your cuts in the right order for the condition and turn off the saw so you can hear the wood while you're banging the wedges. Know and clear your escape routes and don't let anyone stand in the fall radius. Stay safe, stay alive.
