Thank you for the video:) could you please make a video about how to cut a square, rectangle and or other shaped cabs? There are no videos anywhere on this process and you are a great teacher. Also I wish we could see a closer view of what you’re doing on the wheels. You make it look so simple as you’re a seasoned pro but for us students it’s much harder to get right! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

I already have a dvd on “How to cut a Cabochon” that’s been sold internationally and helped a lot of people, it’s only $25 plus shipping including all the polishing information. Regarding the closeup I will try my best 😊

It would have been nice to see the pin prior to your gluing so we could see what to purchase. What glue do you use and then how do you remove it?
@ElieGhanimeEG Жыл бұрын
Sorry Lena, any straight pin that will fit your drill should work and for glue I used super glue, I also have a video on how to use it then remove it with heat using opal, have a look at it.

Thanks, your videos are always helpful. I have a JoolTool, but I can take your methods and apply them to my machine.

Hello Michelle and thank you for watching my videos, I don't have a JoolTool but you can always try with a small drill or a Foredome tool.

That’s a great tip, thank you. Is there a best way to learn how to hold to maintain that 11degree angle?
@ElieGhanimeEG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rochelle for watching my videos, some of the cabbing machines they come with a stand that sits in front of the grinding wheel to give you that angle, since I built my own machine I also built that fixture, if you have one you can start grinding the stone bezel first then you mount it on the dop, if you don’t have it you can do it approximately by eye and keep your hands steady at that angle. I hope that will help.

I found a bunch of gemstones and built a cabbing machine like you did. I have a bunch of gemstones if you want some

How do you remove the cabochon from the pin when you are done?
@ElieGhanimeEG3 жыл бұрын
To remove the pin I use heat, I have a video that shows how to glue and remove sensitive stone with heat when using super glue, have a look at it and thanks for watching.

Very useful. I never thought of that. Btw what stone is that? And can you move the camera closer to your machine so that we can see it better? I mean for another video to come. Keep up the good work👍

I'm disappointed you didn't engineer an adjustable bearing you could pivot or move back and forth to the wheel to adjust the size of the round cab. Lol, just kidding! Looks like a nice and fast solution!
@ElieGhanimeEG3 жыл бұрын
LOL I could have designed that but it would have been too expensive just to cut a round cab😂 thanks for watching!
