I think that trick for cleaning tarnish from silver is simply aluminum foil, sea salt, and boiling water. I'm not sure how it works, but I've done that with my silver chains and other jewelry and trinkets. It works! But you still need to buff it or apply some proper cleaning solution to it. Removes the tarnish, but leaves it looking scratched or dull.

Most all store bought, fast, cleaning liquid, tarnish removers work, but also remove some the silver off of your fine sterling. Instead use products like FLITZ cream compound, w/ a small sponge and rag, but you have to do ea utensil individually.
