Great advice in this video, Pete. Having been an auto tech for many years I do 99.9% of the repairs on mine, my wife's, son's, and daughter-in-law's vehicles. I buy quality parts online and install them myself saving us thousands of dollars in labor costs. I also watch KZbin videos on household appliances and repair those myself when I can. A little ingenuity and imagination go a long way in saving money.

Thank you for this video. It is amazing how accustomed we have become to just running "to walmart" or "Amazon" to get what we need when we usually have the means at home etc. I used to buy most of the things I needed to cook (when I wasn't running after fast food). Now I make my meals and some of what I use in them. Baking Powder for example. So simple to make at home and it works alot better than store bought with no unwanted aluminum. Side note...staying away from fast food and processed food has had "some" side effects....lower blood pressure and weight loss. :)

I heartily agree that you tube is more interesting, original and entertaining than is industrial grade commercial TV. A few years back I became aware of the fact that be it comedy or drama or (hahaha) ‘reality’ programs I could view it for 2 minutes and know what the whole show would be. Hell, I could write the dialogue. There is the occasional program that is worth the time but they are rarer than hen’s teeth.

Yeah man that’s how real farmers do it. I live in an urban area now but grew up on a small farm... I’m probably the handiest guy in the neighborhood. Because we had to learn how to fix everything on the farm. There wasn’t money, time, or the inclination to get help. I am always surprised how reluctant people are to figure it out, or even do the work at all. I dig your channel, because you’re so real. Please keep posting!

Another informative video Pete. Would like to see a chicken butchering and packaging video one day. Don't show the actual killing that might get you flagged by youtube. Also people don't buy refrigerators or freezers with a lot of electronic features. Go with as simple as you can find. Old ones from the 1970's are still running today. The new ones with a lot of electronic features will last about 10 years and you will probably have to have it serviced in that time and 9 out of 10 time guess want their replacing that's right the circuit board.

You're probably better off getting your house an energy audit and professionally insulated than cutting firewood or putting up solar panels.
@JustaFewAcresFarm4 жыл бұрын
I specialized in sustainable and energy efficient buildings for many years as an architect before we started the farm. My motto was capture, conserve, and create, in that order. Photovoltaics are in the create category, after orienting the building for maximum energy benefit (capture) and designing the building shell and interior systems to best conserve energy (conserve). I renovated the house myself for maximum energy conservation, but being an old house of sentimental value, there were limits.
@alexandermuravez75964 жыл бұрын
@@JustaFewAcresFarm sorry, I don't know how I blanked on the fact you were an architect! When I bought my house I discovered almost no insulation because it was built in the 60's, and watched a lot of Joe Lstibruk's talks, so anytime people talk about putting up solar panels all I can think is "But did you put exterior shades on your western windows!?" But what do I know, I'm just a mailman lol
