Man Wess you would die to see the fields around here that have been cut or shelled, There turning a lush green and its not a cover crop ! Guys are saying there loosing 5 to 20 bu an acre in beans dew to head shatter and corn 20 to 50 bu an acre from butt shelling and its all from the sever drought we had this summer. Glad to see you making such good yields off this farm knowing it was a sod farm for so long, Shows you know more than the average farmer ! Bandit

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great to hear that the regenerative agriculture is working out as expected. I know you like doing thought experiments sometimes. Was curious what the price of diesel or beans would have to be before you would be money ahead if you held some back to process for vegetable oil to burn as a diesel replacement and sell off the meal as a feed supplement for others raising livestock. Or if you think it would be a total fools path to investigate the possibility. I know the equipment would need modifications to run the vegetable oil but I’m sure it’s well within your abilities. Might be a curiosity for Tim to convert an older tractor as a hobby. Since you do use them occasionally. Wishing you and your family the best.

@brianhowe4875Ай бұрын
It’s not about the money. It’s the lifestyle. It’s a “If you gotta ask, you don’t know” thing. None of us would be here without farmers. Sure, mom & dad did their part but without the farmer, mom & dad wouldn’t be here

They get money from the bank that they have to somehow pay back. When they cant afford to pay back, the Bank takes the farm and sells it to China or Bill Gates.

All the fields here in Indiana that have been combined have volunteer beans coming up, popping out of the pods really bad this year
@stevelutzke9600Ай бұрын
Wish the money was better for you but it seems you are enjoying harvesting grains again after so many years of only the mulch hay. Seems like the Combine was a good purchase for what you have stuck into it. With your know how should be able to get a lot of years out of it. Stay safe and have a great harvest season….

The soybeans are extra dirty this year, probably from the lack of rain

I know at one point youd said you wouldn't plant that variety of beans again but now that you picked them has the yield changed your mind for next season?
@averysenior6571Ай бұрын
We used a drone to plant are winter wheat into the beans on some of are acres this year really like it so far, it seems to be growing very well and got us a far better planting date because of are beans not finishing until later.

Wes understand your regen ag program and such, let me ask, at some point won't you have to do some deeper tillage? Just wonder how you will deal with compaction, you can only make so many trips over a piece of ground before it becomes like pavement. Enjoy your videos, take care.
@onelonleyfarmerАй бұрын
no sir. you see as the worms dig deeper and the roots follow the worms the biology creates aggregates and the soil becomes like a sponge. scratching the surface with the VT just resizes the residue without disturbing all that life beneath our feet. soil has an ever changing structure but as for compaction. that is from the breakdown of that structure.

I think you need to calibrate your yield monitor. The CNH ones are not accurate. Lol 😂. I calibrate mine with my scales and it is always off
@farming4gАй бұрын
Yea i never calibrate the yield; that's what the grain cart scale is for. The moisture sensor I don't adjust either, just make notes from past years of where it was showing versus the actual hand-held and from the elevator... then it kind of stays the same. Moisture tends to show higher for most crops, so makes a guy check often during tough conditions.
