Hope you can ge a replacement easy enough or something made up to fit. Going to be interesting to see how the fibreglass bit comes together.

Love the video Mike. Love your methodical approach to something as daunting as the cab repair but you've reduced it to what it is, some aluminium sheet and some fibreglass. In that way it is much less daunting. Great logic and enjoyable watching. Must be very rewarding to see things coming together. I'll be watching every minute.

Mike is there a metal supply sales/ shop near you if so take the panel to them have them cut you a new panel out of a 4'X8' sheet of metal I would go back with 16 gauge cold roll steel be cheaper and I would leave the vent out of the new panel less holes the better JMO but love seeing you and your dad working together that will keep him going he's use to being busy so let him do all that he wants to do keeps him young at heart but y'all stay safe and keep the video's coming

Mike, I would take the cab off Kenny and put it on Smokey and put Kenny's engine and drive train in K 2. That way it would give you two usable trucks with longer wheelbases. Use Smokey's cab for parts. Would also save you money and time. Just a thought. You wouldn't have to buy any more engines or cut offs. I love to see you and your dad working together.
@holdenbrougham1056 Жыл бұрын
I've being restoring an 1982 white road boss with big cam Cummins 400 , and I've rebuilt entire chassis from back of gear box all the way to back inside ŕails removed for severely rust jacked , outta rails not so bad , had new inner rails pressed and folded then we drilled out all the 42 holes a side at 3/4 inch using the magnet drill , now that's a drill , this drill had all 84 holes done in hours time ,, now try it with a normal drill and you might get 3 hours done in a hour if your not worn out 1st

Mike, That was a good move, just replace the panel The corner really wouldn't be that hard to produce, simply manually bending alloy sheet over a round form first then do the cut outs for the vent and tool door. The damaged fibreglass cap can be a patch job, building the layers. She'll be a great Aerodyne when done.
@mikeduin8311 Жыл бұрын
Great Video Mr.C, nice progress on smokey. On the fiberglass repair might it be a good idea to get a cut out piece of roof from an aerodyne, and laminate that in from where the fiberglass is unburnt and solid. Keep saving the cabovers!💪 Cheers, Mike

Living in the "Great White North"... better thee than me! For me, anything Stretched frame pros: Rides a lot better. Stretched frame cons: Everybody has done/is doing it. Whacked your hand with the hammer on the first swing... yep, get that event out of the way first.😉 Looks like Smokey now has what you could call an open-air concept sleeper. 😁 That was a scary moment when the chain broke and it looked like the deck might flip backwards. 😯
@carlcarlamos9055 Жыл бұрын
Did the Aero-Shield have to be ordered prior to building the truck, or could it be retro fit? Many cabovers on the east coast of the USA had wheelbases in the 152, 154, 156 inch range because of length laws. Yep, because of logistics, even if somebody had a NOS panel, getting local sheet metal people to fabricate one is probably a good viable alternative. A tri-drive cabover with a big cooking engine would be a good lowbed tractor. Adding twin-steer would make it even better. You guys are doing good. Get some brakes on that backhoe while the snow is flying. Thanks for all you do. Take care.
