Here is something that doesn't make sense. Brookpark Is in Cuyahoga county ...why is the county siding with the city. Also folks Browns stadium was built in 1999 for 260 million. That's 490 million in today's world. It's a dump. Dome and getting the Super Bowl is the way to go.

Its insane to ask the public to pay that kind of money for a new stadium. Especially considering the owner is a billionaire. You can talk about benefit to the community all you want, but the average person footing that tax bill isn't seeing any meaningful return from it. Not to mention the price for everything related to the new stafium will go up.
@ryand57254 ай бұрын
Anyone that makes a comment about the Haslams being a billionaire just shows that you haven’t looked into how these things work. The amount of money it takes to do these projects would be half of their total net worth, a net worth that typically isn’t liquid assets he can just pour into one investment. Many private redevelopment plans have built in public support. Like Dan Gilbert’s real estate company offered $3Billion to redevelop the tower city district and the city came back and offered $1Billion for that… so this is common. Especially the browns bc the Haslams don’t own anything in Cleveland, the land, the parking, the stadium, is all owned by Cleveland… on top of that the Brookpark stadium is the closest thing to being privately funded as it gets for these kinds of things so the Haslams have offered what you want but it’s in Brookpark and the city and county are preventing it even tho most fans and most people outside of Cleveland want Brookpark.

People that invested downtown, made a bad investment. That's their problem. You won't see me going downtown and being inconvenienced at a Browns game. $60 to park a car. Bibb can't pay more to get police officers to keep the area safe, but he has 500 million dollars for a stadium that has 8 games a year. Like those 8 games are gonna make or break the economy.
@ryand57254 ай бұрын
Right! For years they’ve been saying that the browns don’t have a big enough impact on the local economy, so they weren’t gonna give them any more money and now that they want to move to Brookpark that’s their biggest argument against the move!
@acatguy233 ай бұрын
and bibb is only making that offer to haslam because of this, haslam has tried to get funds from the city for a while and they’ve always been dismissive which i get they’re not obligated to do so, but haslam also has the right to relocate if he sees greater opportunity and this most definitely is

I ain’t paying for a billionaire’s dome. If Jimmy has the money let him pay for it all. He sure had enough money to invest on the Milwaukee Bucks.
@enriquedejesus90604 ай бұрын
They are going to waste time with this. They need a dome, and it will be a waste of money to renovate the current stadium . Find another spot to build a new stadium, like getting rid of Burke Lake Front airport and building it there and opening up the lake front.

Not trying to be disrespectful but this is an ignorant way of viewing this. There are many reasons the browns should get as new stadium. Economically being one of the biggest reasons. But the city owns everything the land the stadium etc. so if the city wants the browns to stay they should chip in. And something reasonable, the cities offer wasn’t reasonable it didn’t address any of the biggest issues…. The comment about the owners being billionaires is silly. The haslams don’t have the net worth or the liquid assets to do this project on their own penny, but they can help build a team that can secure financing, which is what they did for the Brookpark location… but for future reference all big projects like this are typically supported in some way by the public… Dan Gilbert’s real estate company is putting $3Billion into redeveloping the tower city area and the city just announced they’d be chipping in $1Billion as well… so this is common for a city to chip in on big projects that help the city

Let the city help build a large automobile plant that will supply thousands of good paying jobs to its citizens . Would you give your neighbor money to help them build a new house ? Sports in America keeps slow idle minds from completely shutting down !
@ryand57253 ай бұрын
@@vicpetrishak7705 When the Vikings built a stadium it created 8,000 construction jobs, around 3.8 million work hours… the battery Atlanta, the mixed use property around the braves Truist Park, employs 5,500 people and increased property value by $43million between ‘20 and ‘21… these development projects are better long term than a manufacturing plants that employ less than 1,500 and constantly lay people off… would I give my neighbor money to build a house probably not… but if my neighbors house was falling apart and I want led to make sure it didn’t tank the value of my house I’d help him fix it up… but a better comparison would be if I owned a house and rented it out, I’d be the one paying for the a new roof, or a kitchen renovation. Not the tenant… see where I’m going with that? Bc the Haslams don’t own their stadium the city does… Brookpark is gonna be good for the browns and good for way more than just downtown Cleveland it’ll be good for all of northern Ohio.

It's not just, in my opinion, about the economic impact of this move. For the people that work downtown, in non-retail/restaurant business, those taxes will absolutely crush income and pay. The city already taxes roughly 2.5% (for income) so I would anticipate a 'generous' increase to roughly 3.5%. Or if you live in the city, prepare to have your property tax go through the roof. Remember, this is all for a team with the following 'attributes': never been to a Super Bowl, (prior to AFL-NFL merger) won the NFL Championship in 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964, from 1965-1995 (30 seasons) only made the playoffs 14 times, and just recently ended a 17-season playoff drought in 2020. Not sure if this is the best investment.
@ryand57254 ай бұрын
This is why the Brookpark move makes so much sense. The browns would be financing it primarily through private avenues and bc of the current circumstances in Brookpark it would be mutually beneficial for that city and the browns from a tax oerspective

That history you talked about from 1946-1995 die when the Browns moved to Baltimore this team has never played in a afc championship game when it came back to the NFL let's stop being up the past and make new history in a new stadium good history all we want is a winning team that we can be proud of not for just one season people be saying what will happen to the business if the Browns move from downtown it will hurt but they will be fine now if the Indians or cavs leave downtown different story
@ryand57253 ай бұрын
@@demarcosanders6249 I agree with most of what you’re saying but the browns are and always will be the browns. The players and staff and owner moved but that team stayed in northeast Ohio. Modell actually agreed to a settlement that legally transferred the browns assets and player contracts to an expansion team(Baltimore ravens) and suspended the browns franchise until they began playing again in 1999. So what Modell did was essentially gave away all of the franchises assets to a new franchise… that’s why the browns are and have always been the browns.

@@demarcosanders6249 ya I disagree. If northeast Ohioans supported the browns bc it was their home town team, with players, coaches, and owners coming and going the entire time… and then the owner leaves and the players leave but Ohio says no way that franchise is ours and the owner says fine you can have it, I’m damn proud to say that Modell didn’t get everything he wanted and I’m gonna claim the browns as ours… besides what I said about the team not actually being an expansion team is accurate. It just got to restock players through expansion rules but a law suit settlement made the browns the browns not the ravens.
