This EXACTLY how I remember the guitar riff near the ending 6:27 when I saw them live in S.Antonio, Sunken Gardens 1985. They were the backup to the Bangles, and the Crew stole the show. Was a great show, and I was just about 12 feet from the stage. Great memories.

One of the 80's best! I played keys in a popular band during the era. This was one of my favorites to play and sing lead on. Sadly the guitar player for the Cutting Crew - Kevin MacMichael, passed away in 2002. He lived only 3 hours from here, played at our local university in a band called "Fast Forward", as did I in the day, and was just 51 years old when he died far to young. Kevin was in a musical partnership with Robert Plant after the CC. He helped write and played on "Fate of Nations" and did a with a world tour before Plant reunited with Jimmy Page. The album's single "Calling to You", on which he played guitar, resulted in a Grammy nomination. I love your remix version of "Died in Your Arms". I'm sure he'd be pleased! Thank you.

Nick the singer from cutting crew is my brother in law..I was in the studios in chipping Norton when the broadcast album was produced..Kevin was a great guy & guitar player always had a fewbeers with the band at the end of the day..great times

As a progressive DJ in a gay leather bar this song posed a real conundrum. The song itself absolutely deserved attention and it fit right in with my DOR (dance oriented rock) approach. The problem was that this song was released as the AIDS crisis was cresting its first wave of casualities (and it was an EPIC boatload!). While the lyrics are describing an emotional death, so many of the customers were in the midst of dealing with having lost a great deal of close friends and partners in a very literal sense. Each night we would hear statistics from customers as they came in about who lost who and watched as "Regular's Reserved" bar stools found new owners. On a personal note, our crew was a family going through this process as we were losing our TWO of our head bartenders (one of whom was one of my dearest friends.) It goes without saying that the song was a very open wound. I had to KNOW the personal lives of my customers to choose the acceptable time to couch this track into my set. While the subject as a whole was very sensitive it was a throw away line that really struck the raw nerve. Anyone who has experienced the pain of watching a loved one die a slow death and felt helpless to save them understands the unavoidable byproduct known as "Survivor's Guilt." You beat yourself up wondering if you could have done more when you try to defend yourself thinking "I should have just walked away," you beat yourself up again for even Thinking that. Love hurts from beginning to end. The reality of life is that you can't say "Hello" to anyone without eventually having to say "goodbye" in one way or another. Garth Brooks probably summed the experience up the best: "Our lives are better left to chance. I might have missed the pain, But I'd have had to miss The Dance."
