As a tech of 15 years, I have never, and will never service any type of pan or fluid without long sleeves and sealed gloves. A lot of old heads and losers will say I'm not a man for not wanting to get dirty or beat up while working. But I'll be damned if I'm going to end up like 100% of boomers who took pride in working dumb and have spent 40 years absorbing chemicals into their bodies and are now essentially on deaths door. Brake dust, metal shavings, rust, corrosion, toxic fluids, brake cleaner, etc. They inhale and absorb these things for decades and then pretend like it's not the reason they are dying. Not only pretend, but actually boast about how "hard" they worked because they did those things

Judging by the color of the oil, they waited too long to change it. Will require transmission repair in a short time. CVT transmission fluid should change each 20k-30k miles

The Subaru I had used a spin on transmission oil filter outside the transmission. Much like an engine oil filter. It wasn't cheap, but so easy to change.

If you start removing the bolts randomly from one ends , the plate will get buckled. It should be rather first loosened and then removed diagonally one against other or as the sequence given in the manual.

I owned a 2006 Ford Five Hundred with a CVT drove it to 240,000 miles no maintenance on the CVT. Gave the car to my niece still ran and shifted like new.

Its CVT fluid. CVT transmissions do not take manual transmission fluid or automatic transmission fluid

One in the video is way bad and there’s metal in the pan. CVT trans fluid is typically red or translucent but can also be blue or green.

One thing about CVT is it runs very smooth unlike usual automatic.

The other thing is that CVT blows up if you DONT do this. Auto can last forever and is usually higher quality these days.

​@@ssa6227 Sure, that's the point of a CVT. It doesn't shift gears like an auto, but again, newer premium autos have incredibly smooth shifting. We aren't talking about those old civics. You can't even FEEL the shifting out of new autos. You can hear it though, and I like that.

@@perception-receptionmy honda CVT has made it to 214,000 miles with a service every 30k and still runs fine. I think both honda and Toyota make the best ones and the service will only help in making it last.

​@@perception-reception 263k miles and counting here, original CVT. Unknown about fluid changes previous to me, but I got a flush @ 215k miles, fixed the slight slipping it had going on from a stop. Going to do a fluid change here soon once it starts warming up outside again.

@Whoatharmage well I'll eat my words. In general they have not been reliable and long lasting. I know Honda and Toyota make the best versions but they have not been great. Glad you're getting longevity out of it

I always think projects will come out at simple as this, Then a bolt will get stripped or something for example I went to replace my sparkplug and pulled the spark plug wire the rubber ripped apart then I used a spark plug socket and somehow the rubber in the socket that grips the the spark plug got stuck on the spark plug, a pick was not getting it off, so I got long pliers modified it so it could fit the spark plug tube such a simple job always turns into nightmares, If you find yourself stripping bolts all the time make sure your vehicle uses SAE sockets or metric sockets, You'll strip out so much stuff if you don't best way to get off a rusted bolt is to heat it up not spray wd40 of pb plaster those spray absolutely dont do anything

Repairable components are wearable components, sometimes the repair costs more. the bones of the transmission are so cost effectively engineered the return on investment of repair isn't profitable. Versus removal and replacing an 'economic part' that's cheaper to replace than to repair.

I’ve seen a man testing cvt by putting in Reverse on the ride. Guess what. Nothing happens. He said Reverse mode is like neutral mode while reving doesn’t change anything. Cvt is long lifetime fluid from owner’s manual. 😅

The issue with them is they overheat. So changing the fluid will help, the other thing i have seen from experience is they burn the oil out and then burn up the transmissions. So keep checking your cvt fluid level often. Most of them have a dipstick.

Yeah that’s too dark. I changed my altimas transmission fluid at 80k for the first time and the fluid still not even close to being that black so I assume this person must’ve waited 100k+ miles to change theirs. At that point there’s most likely some transmission damage considering the color of the fluid so they’ll be better off just rebuilding it

Неті рукавички застосовує. Від мастила не захищає, а от бруд розводить легко. З нітриловим покриттям має бути. І руки чисті, і головне рукавички теж чисті, або легко очищаються. В результаті, буквально чиста робота. А так в цілому, норм. Навіть така деталь, що очисником працює с середини, на зовні, щоб не потрапляли залишки на деталі, і ці краплі не псували нове мастило. Не вистачає для повноти картини, режим заправки нового мастила, та є свої особливості з виставленням рівня.
