The problem with that is that only Kofi is holding him by doing that, but if he was holding his hand, both Kofi AND Hornswoggle would be holding each other. Wrestling moves are all about both (or multiple) people working together to do the moves, if only one person is doing the work there is more chance of things going wrong.

Kofi's only job was to take his hand to stabilize him, and he didn't. That's a botch. Yes, Hornswaggle was OK, but it could have gone much worse.
