Here we have Green Hawks RC’s first video from the Peter Smith DT02 speed challenge 2024!
So,we didn’t actually have a DT02……😬
This first upload shows the initial build of the buggy we got especially for this challenge,and outlines our plan of attack going forward!
We also bring back Mr Hanky our speed run poo from last years poor boys Rc speed challenge to the channel! 💩
A big shout going out to Peter Smith for hosting this challenge,and for all the other mighty contestants that we will be fighting up against!

Awesome to see that you guys are ready to rock and roll! I had a big smile when I saw Taylor watching me on the big TV, just like Pete Wylie!!! A great video with a very nice and detailed build inn there but mainly for the banter and humour! Man, I'm glad I stayed for the outtakes! Bloody spat my coffee out!!! Hey Mark, how are you mate? Oh yeah.....Pete also had you up on his monitor didn't he?! We needed an iconic channel that was in the speed run competition,and that everyone knew..... who better than Mark and Rob?! Although the intro was 'acted' that is pretty much what happened....we pulled an all nighter to build that thing!! 😁 Mr Hanky 💩 is fired up and ready to go, although Im pretty sure we won't be getting anywhere near your outstanding speed buddy! But,the competition between Taylor and I will be intense,I'm determined to beat him just as I did on the tto2 challenge last year!! Cheers for obviously watching all the way to the end fella,we found lots of funny footage when looking back at the recording! Maybe we should do a live build at some stage rather than a photo montage?! As for the competition between you and Taylor, I gotta be a sporting type and with both of you the very best shot at it. But no, I think the photo montage is great, it adds some variation to the video and is very clear and well done. We pulled an all nighter to get that kit built (I work 7 days a week)...... and when it's that late,after a few ciders things can get a bit blurred!😁 Luckily I managed to get to bed by 5am and get some sleep ready for work the next day. Oh I don't know about that mate,smoky and the bandit is a LEGENDARY film.....Burt would be welcome to drive ours!🤣 The 19T pinion gear arrived yesterday and I took it out for a test drive on the suoerstock rz /2s and it absolutely rips!! Handles very well to! Cheers for stopping by buddy. 😊 👍 👍 👍

@@rc-dom-uk Thanks buddy.... I was actually quite suprised how long that box art body took for a pre painted shell! Spraying the roof in royal blue,painting the window frames,driver, cabin,Jerry cans,spot lights etc. And then cutting out all of those pesky stickers! Looking forward to seeing how the DT02 drives now,especially after watching your video of them! 👍 👍 👍

I think we all need to include Mark Bryan on a screen in every video 🤣 I was thinking it was a shame you hadn't put many details on the shell and then you produced your lovely shelfer. I'm afraid your speed shell isn't the first Holiday Buggy cabriolet because when I was young I smashed the roof off mine by rolling it and then found a parts tree that was the right size to be a windscreen which I made to be spring loaded so it didn't break in roll overs. I didn't have a poo driving it though so you might be the first to do that 🤔 Great stuff chaps and I look forward to seeing if you can beat Mr. McBryan 😁

Hello Pete! Now there's an idea.....imagine how funny that would be if everyone put Mark up on a screen in the background of all of their videos? Especially if Mark wasn't in on the plan!! 😁 Yeah fella,I was so pleased with how the box art body turned out that I couldn't possibly speed run it.... hence the minimalist one I made up to sacrifice instead! And let's face it,it's guna end up upside down at some point isn't it?😁 Love your story regarding your parts tree crash resistant windscreen from back in the day mate.....I can picture it now! 😁 Times were hard back then and we had to make do,which led to much creative thinking! I can remember using a used parts tree to make up a steering wheel and a bumper back in the eighties..... Just cut it to size, heated it up with a lighter, and bent it to shape!! 😁 Those were the days eh? As for beating Mc Mark.....no chance buddy at least not with the components we currently have!! 40 mc mph.....he's coming for many of you brushless guys!! 😁 Cheers for checking in Pete,always appreciated mate. 😊 👍 👍 👍

It's more about the competition between me and Taylor,and the laughs we can have along the way!! I don't care how low down we are on the leaderboard, just as long as my best time is better than his!! 😁 Saying that,if time and finances allow we may just try and purchase something quicker for one final run at a later date perhaps. @@greenhawksrc6806 As I said mate, Win or Lose it's all about having fun... A little tip, drill a 2mm to 3mm hole in the Holiday Buggy's rear wheels as a vent, Then, if speeds are fast enough, the tires are now semi pneumatic and will "grow" giving you a taller ratio. I know you'll swap the tires, like most of us are doing, but the vent holes also help with tire uniformity (squeeze a stock tire on the rim, if like mine, the tire will keep a "dent" in it, the vent holes will stop that.. However, with the vent holes, the tires are more prone to flat spots if stored with weight on them...

Yeah their big,hard and heavy,fast and durable.....but I just find them so character less and bland! I'd rather rag the tits off a vintage Tamiya or kyosho..... at least they have soul and character, not to mention they actually look like proper vehicles to. But, each to their own mate.....it's all about the vintage stuff for me! 😁 👍 👍 👍

We couldn't allow him in the video in case he got the munchies and tried to eat Mr Hanky!!😁 Cheers matey,this buggy had never really been on my radar......but I really warmed to the body once I had completed the box art one. Although,the roof and spot lights looked very vulnerable......especially for a speed run! So the hanky shell was built to sacrifice to the speed gods,and also lower weight Should be an entertaining series if last year's poor boys rc speed challenge is anything to go by! Mine tends to take off to the moon thx to the front mud guart/wings + brushless motor even on 2s XD carfull for front shock mount, seems to brake easely when going above stock speeds

I could well believe that fella,not the best of body shell designs for a speed runner,that whole front end is one big air scoop!🤣 I bet it absolutely shifts with brushless though,if you are able to keep it down!! One of the reasons why we are sticking with brushed motors this time around. Thanks for the warning regarding the shock mount,we have also heard the rear body posts are prone to breaking easily. Cheers fella!! The stickers came from my random box of decals that I have..... I got a whole sheet of them free with a parts delivery, but unfortunately can't remember what they came with sorry! Companies often throw in decal sheets as a bonus when you order parts,but as I get so many things ordered through the post I loose track! They may have arrived with my Optima Mid kit from MB models perhaps??🤔 I knocked up this body as a basher shell just for the speed run..... We tend to destroy body shells when doing these speed runs,so it means the box art one remains in perfect condition! Cheers for watching mate. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Regarding the body- It really didn't look at all durable to me,hence knocking up a second shell just for the speed run! Nothing worse than wrecking a brand new box art body on its first run after spending so much time painting, detailing and cutting out /placing decals!
