Nice transceiver. Nice key. Nice video. Simple and neat QSOs. A good example for a CW novice like me. Thank you!

Good video, James. I ordered mine one month ago. I can't wait now. My experience with EFHW antennas is so so, I still prefer a quarter wave wire on a fiber mast with elevated radials. 73 from France. F5PGP

Thank you for the comments Christophe. The FX-CR is a great portable radio, I am sure you enjoy using it. I like experimenting with different antennas when operating portable. I use the EFHW often since it is resonate on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m so works well with radios that do not have an ATU. Thanks for watching the video, 73

I have been so curious about this radio! Love the video and much appreciated content. Curious, If you had to pick your favorite feature/characteristic about this radio what would that be? Outstanding activation as always. 73!
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Chris. The radio has a lot of features so it is difficult to pick one favourite. The main reason I purchased it is because it is a “shack in the box” in the size of a QRP radio. All band HF radio, SSB and CW plus a small waterfall. But the radio still has some bugs that are being worked out through firmware updates, 73

Fb activation James. I’m having the same clicking issue with my recorder. I’ve heard a small resistor on the audio leads.
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
Thank you Jay. I recorded the audio using both the GoPro and inline using the Sony recorder. I ended up using the raw audio from the GoPro so the clicking seems to be coming from the radio. I will look into using a resister with the inline recorder to improve the audio, thanks 73

Good one James.That EFHW, is that 1/2 wave for 40m or for 20m? Judging by the vid, it looks like its for 40m.
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, the antenna is half wave for 40m so it is resonant on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m. It is one of my favourite antennas. Unfortunately it is not resonant on 30m or 17m which can be useful when operating portable, 73

What the means about 44?
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
44 is often used as part of the sign off for World Wide Flora and Fauna (WWFF) contacts. 73 44 means “best regards WWFF”. 44 is generally not used with other types of portable activations such as SOTA and POTA. Thanks for watching the video, 73

559???
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
559 is the RST: Readability (1 to 5), Signal strength (1 to 9) and Tone (1 to 9 but usually sent as 9). Thanks for watching, 73
@gmm7388 Жыл бұрын
@@vk2ter 👍 With such a signal level I would have given him 599
@vk2ter Жыл бұрын
@@gmm7388ah my mistake, I thought they were asking what RST meant rather than questioning the report. I gave out two 559 so not sure which one it was. My signal reports can be a little variable when I am doing it by ear. Thanks for the comment, 73
