Love this info Keith. Couldn't agree more, not sure if you read the comments on the Drury video but I recommended a second video with you and the people you would know to have involved in the conversation. Keep up the great work with the deer farming industry! Last year was my first year having captive cervids and sadly lost all my deer to EHD.

I live in Michigans upper peninsula and all the talk about cwd has been about preventing it from crossing in from Wisconsin and other states. I made the claim that it was already here and just wasn't found yet and sure enough a couple months later jackpot right were I expected it. where you ask? on a farm, most farmers these days don't grow their own seed, it's purchased from larger companies that produce seed for shipment around the country and the world. The prions in the ground are transferred to the plants that are grown and end up in the soil and the deer that eat them. I'm not a scientist or an expert just forming a logical opinion, an opinion that I've never heard anyone address.

My hats off to you keith for making this video. It puts a smile on my face that do your best to separate the facts from the BS. My question is are there any diseases that a deer is suseptable to getting harmful to humans as far as consumption of the meat?

CWD takes 2yrs to kill a whitetail deer. Even if the deer got it at birth, it would could still breed and increase the population within those 2 yrs. Also, you fail to mention that Stage 1 CWD tests are only 36% accurate. Later stages are 100% accurate, but early detection is not very accurate. Something else to consider, is that if 60% of deer have CWD (some locations in WI), then most deer in that region won't survive more than 3 years and trophy 4-5yr old buck will be unheard of. We have to start thinking about the next generation. Let me ask you..... Would you eat a CWD positive deer? I know a guy who had to shoot 5 deer in one season before he had a CWD free deer. He thanks God that he started in the archery season or else he wouldn't have had the time to shoot 5 deer. I'd be frustrated and probably not hunt the next year. It's way easier to buy a cow for meat than cut up 5 deer just to have 60lbs of meat.

The disease has also been found in farmed deer and elk. CWD was first identified in captive deer in a Colorado collage research facility in the late 1960s, and in wild deer in 1981. They were keeping different species side by side mule deer Whitetail elk excetera and antelope and mule deer were side by side and the mule deer showed the signs of being sick and thats first CWD case if I would have to bet I would start with antelope

Joe rogan brought on the scientist that have the best shot of understanding this, i like this video though it shows how much these people love deer. We cannot be so blind, much less talk down on people that have been dedicating there lives to this very type of disease. Discourse is great though, keep it up fellas. I don't agree with much of what is said in this video, or this channel but it is good! As a fellow hunter I like how open you guys where in this video, it would be great to have a debate with both parties involved. Cheers fellas.

I could never understand beyond a market for commercially sold venison, how and why deer farms benefit deer? Breeding deer for big antlers does not follow the real evolution of the species, other genetic traits, body size, for example, does. Other survival traits as well, some, we may not exactly know, only the deer themselves know. This is before we even begin to insert CWD into the question.

I'm from Michigan I have a cabin in the TB zone I hear from the local people in town that the DNR have major kill offs during fawn season and you're really lucky if you see five deer when you drive around let alone when you hunt and where my cabin is there's no farms around it's just hard woods and swamps and there no high fence hunting around anymore and there making Michigan a no bait State throughout the whole state not just a TB and CWD zones now people with food pots and people that buy deer urine and other attractions is that considered baiting to you I've heard from a lot of different people that if you use urine that considered baiting if you hunt over a food plot that's considered baiting I just wanted to ask your thoughts

The question I have like I keep hearing people say TB and CWD other deer can get it over bait or any other food source like a food plot other deer can get it by coming in contact with an infected deer is that true and if a deer has CWD can a human get it if they eat the meat?
@justinochs3792
@justinochs3792 4 жыл бұрын
The prions would be in the meat and yes, if it was able to affect humans, that is how you would get it. It has never been transferred to humans and it has been around longer than you think. Eat your venison. It is delicious!

You did touch on some of these questions. If you could do a f/u vid it would be so appreciated. Is CWD caused by a prion? If so, wouldn't that put it in the same group as Jacob - Croitzfeld (sp?) disease? Has the CWD prion ever jumped species? To humans? How is CWD vectored between deer? Is CWD found in elk, bear, moose, N.A. big cats or bird or reptile game species? Provided avoidance of CNS tissues, can eating the meat or marrow of CWD deer cause xmission of the disease? I'm taught EHD is a hemorrhagic disease. Wouldn't this make it pretty easy to spot? Last, is there any high brow Ph.D. literature in the journals that would be helpful? (I can actually understand that stuff. I are a EDUCATED dotard.)

Yes, it is a Prion and through computer modeling it is possible "low percentage" to mutate and jump to humans as well as other species! kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2TWZ6NoirVobbM This video talks about the different Prions worth a watch if your interested. Seeing some of the pictures of the deer brains of the infected deer, their brains look very similar to the brains of cows with MCD and the brains of sheep with Scraapy (Not sure how to properly spell it, seen it spelled a few different ways). Seems very similar to the human priom disease of kuru. Just my guess but it seems to resemble a priom.

This started with cows with the mad cow disease then the cows infected the soil then the soil infected the corn growing on those soil then the infected corn was fed to the captive farmed deer then the farmed Deer infected the wild deer population. Infected corn is also in our food supply it just takes longer for us humans to exhibit the human form of this disease.
@ladygodiva9483
@ladygodiva9483 4 жыл бұрын
Cows with the prions disease also known as mad cow disease contaminate the soil with their manure, soil can be contaminated for more than 20 years prions are proteins not bacterial or viral therefore it doesn't have any DNA if it doesn't have DNA can't be killed even with Heat or radiation it's a protein that corrupts other proteins and acts like a virus. it's like nothing scientists have ever seen before.( sorry for my bed English hope I'm coherent enough to understand)😁
@ladygodiva9483
@ladygodiva9483 4 жыл бұрын
Disease deadly proteins are already everywhere in our food supply when you eat at restaurants you can even get this because it's already in their contaminated pots and pans and plates and spoons and forks even if you are a vegetarian it's already also in our vegetables this protein can even contaminate vegetables so there's no way of avoiding this the only thing you can hope for is that you have the genes that some people have that seems to be more resistant and can help slow the disease down long enough for scientist to find a cure for it.
