That nobody brings up what? "Fans" who can't handle a black woman asserting her importance on the show and her place as her husband's equal? Don't worry, the hate was much louder in S1 and reporters couldn't stop bringing it up. Now it's been 4 years and Candice/Iris isn't going anywhere, so they have no reason to mention the ugly underbelly of fandom anymore. PS- mentioning that Iris is a black woman does not mean anyone is being called racist or sexist. That's just what she is.

this was such an open an honest interview. usually when a cast answers questions like that they're careful about what they say and don't want to mention anything wrong with their show but here are 3 women going "yeah the heads of our show are not hiring enough ladies"

yeah really surprised it was so honest. but its great! I dont watch the other shows but the two women either side of Caity were very clear about the shortcomings of the representation and their own lack of character arc on their shows. That is really cool, very bold of them to do that, but i do think its important. It reminds you too that the actors really have zero control, and just because a character isnt working or hasnt got great storylines, its not just their fans that realise, they're probably the most frustrated and disheartened. Thankfully for Caity, they have clearly realised how great she is and have really brought her centre stage
